(r.s)
i take the time to go through my current photos, all breathtaking, all worthy of someone's eyes.
my pen is somewhere in my pockets and the cool metal brings me relief, the feeling that i have some power with me.
written on the back of at least twelve of the photographs were, the only ones who could hold my secrets - r.s.
perfect, i smile and play around with the cap of the pen before putting it back to its home, my pocket.
my camera is sitting idly in the counter and my fingers tap. as always, i try to ignore the increase in nerves without my beloved tool and hop off my seat to actually get something to drink.
the faster i get my drink the faster i can get back to work. but in line i see something, no someone. the sun had its beams pointed at them, not me. he was stunning, his copper hair glimmering in the light. it was as if the sun was telling me something, and i knew exactly what to do.
just as quickly as i stepped into line, i ran out of line and grabbed hold of my camera. my teeth bit at my bottom lip as i managed to get a clear view of this said someone. my friend the sun made him look stunning.
i nodded towards the window and tapped on the plastic surrounding the camera, smiling when the image slowly starts to come out. in a few minutes the line is shorter and mystery boy is gone, but i have it.
it's clear and it's beautiful. his nose is pointed and his lips are thin, his eyes are almond shaped and a honeycomb gold in the light. god he was such a perfect canvas.
i wave around the photograph until i could perfectly make out a clear picture of him. my pen is in my pocket but my other belongings are at the table and my coffee was just a few feet away. knowing i had a mistake, i got off the line and made my way to the table. the pen was begging for me to roll it on my fingers, touch the photo, make its mark.
a beautiful mystery boy is always a beautiful canvas - r.s.
perfect. i smile and gather up all my photos, making sure none bend or get ripped. especially the one with mystery boy on it. he stays with me in my hands.
all safe and sound, just the way it should be.
