Chapter 3

''B-but why? I mean I'm greatful you did it, but why?'' I was astonished. ''Well I wasn't just going to let some guys take advantage of you, it's just not right'' he told me. Wow. ''I , um , thanks Jacob'' I managed to say with a smile. A true smile, like I was talking to my friends or even my parents. Like he was my friend. ''Your welcome Sierra'' he smiled back. ''Hey listen, I was wondering if we could start over?'' he asked. ''Why ?'' I mumbled crossing my arms. ''Because, I was a jerk before, please Sierra?'' he asked using a puppy face. ''Fine. Hi I'm Sierra Richards'' I introduced myself holding out my hand, ''Hey Sierra, I'm Jacob Smith'' he smiled shaking my hand. Electricity shot through me when our skin touched for a second time.

''I'm really sorry about how I acted yesterday after school. It's just... I have this reputation, you know? The popular jock, the bad boy. I have to live up to that. It's who everyone expects me to be'' he said moving back to the bed to sit down, ''Well is that who you want to be?'' I asked truley intrigued. ''It doesn't matter what I want. If I'm not who everyone one wants me to be then I'm a nobody. A loser'' he really seemed to care what everyone thought of him. ''So you've never been the real Jacob in front of anyone?'', ''Never. I'd rather pretend to be someone I'm not and have friends than be myself and have no one.'' was his answer. ''If you act like the real you someone's bound to like you for who you are'' I told him sitting next to him moving closer with every word, ''Sierra it's not that simple, if I'm the real me I'll lose everyone, I'll be that loser that sits in the corner of the cafateria everyday by myself. I'll be the biggest loser in the whole school'' I sighed as I got up. 'He's just like all the others' I thought sadly closing my eyes.

''Look Jacob, thanks for saving me and stuff but I really have to go'' I said walking quickly towards the door and of course Jacob stood between me and the door. ''Whoah what's the rush Sierra? I thought we were getting along fine?'' ''There's no rush I just can't be here any more. You're just like the rest of them'' I said trying to push my way past him, he didn't move. ''What are you talking about? Do you think 'the rest of them' would have saved you last night? Would they have risked their life for you? Would they have taken care of you not knowing what would happen next? Answer me that Sierra'' Jacob looked hurt but I didn't care, I couldn't, I promised I wouldn't. '

'No... They probably wouldn't have done any of that. None of that matters now, it's done and over with. I'm safe and you can go back to being the Jacob everyone loves and stop wasting your time on worthless people like me. Now move!'' I pretty much screamed at him and with that he moved and I stepped out the door into the long hallway.
