"Fell, get up. Time for work." Fell huffed and rolled over onto his stomach at the sound of his brothers' voice. "Come on, Fell, or I'll drag you out of bed." Fell sighed heavily and rolled out of bed landing in his human form. He always slept in his more comfortable wolf form.
Fell took a quick shower while Aih prepared their breakfasts. Aih would be having his usual mug of warmed human blood. The organization had set up several ways of retrieving blood from hospitals scattered throughout the country to be sent to directly to the bases for the vampires and other creatures that thrived on blood that lived within them. Fell would be having bacon and waffles and a steak, which Aih would cook. The vampire loved to cook, which was surprising since he himself couldn't ingest solid food. But he loved to cook for Fell which was beneficial when as a werewolf Fell needed to eat a lot of food to keep his body going. Fell could eat anything a human could (and did) and even things they couldn't or wouldn't, like raw meat, or bugs. He was also immune to many poisons that some creatures had in them and he could eat those without harming himself.
"Today, all we have to do is go shopping for the base." Aih stated as they ate at the oak table in their apartment. "Ren and Allen will be coming with us." Fell nodded. Shopping for the base was usually a pretty large job. It required a lot of heavy lifting and money and the more people the better. They finished eating and quickly did the dishes and dressed. Aih dressed in his jeans, tight black T-Shirt, tall black boots and a long coat that hid various collections of weapons, clothes he could fight in. Fell wore looser jeans, a plain black T-Shirt and jacket, clothes that could be removed easily in case he had to take to his wolf form. He also wore opaque black sunglasses to cover his sightless eyes and the wounds around them which tended to upset the humans if they happened to see him without the glasses.
The brothers left the apartment and met Ren and Allen at the truck. Ren and Allen were twin brothers, both about 15 who had taken a liking to Fell and Aih. They were halflings, half human and half fairy. They were small, almost two feet shorter than Fell who was six foot seven. The young boys had pointed ears, narrowed eyes, pale brown hair and the ability to heal others. They also had slight super mental capabilities, such as some telekinesis Both boys had multicolored eyes, one startling green and the other almost black. They were so close in appearance that it was hard for some to distinguish the two, but Aih and Fell had never had any trouble. When the two had first come to the base they had refused to speak for so long that many people began to question if they could talk. That was until one day Fell and Aih sat next to them in the cafeteria and for some reason the boys had both hunched forward over their meals and just started crying. The brothers let the two boys cry until they were finished, then Fell had turned to them and asked, "we just helped to install a pool in one of the basements, want to go try it out with us." And they had agreed. Fell didn't know much about their past but he didn't need to. He could feel their pain.
"Ready to go?" Aih asked the twins who both nodded rapidly.
"Where are we going this time?" Allen asked, climbing into the back seat as Fell and Aih took the front.
"Hmmm. Where do you want to go?" Aih turned around to look at them, knowing what they would say.
Grins spread over their faces and the both said in sync, "Cincinnati!"
Cincinnati was a city about an hour and a half away by car and was home to the boys' favorite book store. They knew that Fell and Aih would give them the chance to stop there after the shopping was done. On the way they listened to a variety of music. Ren was more of the music guy and even wrote and played some of his own on his many musical instruments. He had the brothers listen to some of that and judge it. Allen wanted to listen to jazz and classical music, Fell wanted to listen to rock and heavy metal and Aih didn't really care what they listened to. So the range of music differed as they went.
