From now on, the story will be told from Claire’s point of view, unless I specifically mention that it is someone else

I could see Lucien shaking. He was in rage. But I did not understand the reason for it because the way I saw it, he intentionally aroused me so that everyone could smell me. God, I was so mortified that those bloodsuckers were privy to something so very personal to me. What is more, that it was one of them that brought me to that state. I was so frustrated and angry with myself, because in my head I kept seeing Lucien separate from them. For my own sanity, however, I have to remember that he is the same as the rest of them.

For whatever reason, he wants me safe now. Bur for how long? What if he gets hungry and decides I am on the menu, what if he doesn’t stop and kills me the next time he takes my blood. I have not even finished my thought when I noticed that Lucien was looking at me, his eyes have gone very dark again.

“Stop thinking those crazy thoughts! I forbid you to be afraid of me!” I swear I heard him growl, and I could not help myself, I shivered. I know that he saw my reaction, but thank god he did not know the reason for it. For I was turned on by his domineering ways. Me, Claire, liking a dominant guy. That would have been funny if I didn’t feel like crying.

“Lucien, she is a weakling. Let me gift you with someone better, prettier. You deserve someone with more spirit to make the hunt worth it.” Cleve said this with an appeasing tone, and I could see that he was hoping to change Lucien’s mind about taking me.

I was scared. I did not know what Lucien had planned for me, but I did know Cleve’s plans for me were horrible.  I shuddered. I hated showing fear and being out of control, but could not help it. In a manner of twenty-four hours my life has changed from boring to extraordinary, one filled with nightmares.

I saw Lucien lookign at Cleve, his eyes so dark and cold. I loved his eyes, but at this moment I was very happy he was not looking at me, because if looks could kill, then Cleve would be dead.

“Cleve you don’t seem to understand me very well. Claire belongs to me now. Harm one hair on her head, and you will rue the day you were created. Make sure to spread the word. I have been very lenient toward you and others.

If someone dares to look at her the wrong way, if she flinches or has a fear from any of you, then you are dead. Truly and forever dead. I will make sure you stay that way, and you know better than to challenge me.”

I noticed how Cleve’s eyes slightly widened, as if in fear, then he controlled his reaction and was back to his obnoxious self. However, I knew that Lucien held power of him. Lucien held power of everyone here.

Lucien turned to me, took my hand very gently and placed my hand on his arm. I did not expect it.  As angry as Lucien was, I thought he would grab me and push me in front of him. Instead the way he treated me was oddly courtly. I felt that he was showing his respect to me.

Maybe everything was not lost. Lucien and I walked toward the same hall again with Cleve trailing after us. I felt very scared going back to the nest of vampires once again, but at the same time I felt reassured that Lucien was by my side.

To my surprise, Jessica was waiting by the door for us. She was dressed in a clean white dress, her hair was shiny and let down. She looked like an angel. She reminded me so much of my Bella  that I felt my throat aching from holding in my sobs. I could not speak because I would cry if I tried. Oh god, my beautiful, vibrant Bella. What did become of her? Was she in a lot of pain before these monsters killed her? I could not breath. I tried to take deep breaths but all I did is make Lucien aware of my condition.
