Sherlock stood by the window, staring out at the street as people walked by, playing his violin. It was a new, beautiful sound to John's ears. He was so careful not to make any noise as he typed their latest adventure on his laptop. He didn't want to interrupt Sherlock's sweet melody. He was composing. Sherlock would pause every now and then to pick up a pencil and write down a couple of notes. He took out his phone and pressed a button to record. John sat completely still so that he wouldn't make any noise. Sherlock played his new song flawlessly. Once he had finished recording himself, John smiled.
'It's beautiful,' John said, gazing at Sherlock. The way the morning light hit his face was beautiful. It wasn't extremely bright that morning. It was cloudy but not raining.
Sherlock turned to face his flatmate. He had a pleased look on his perfectly shaped face. 'Thank you,' he said with a hint of shock. He didn't expect John to say anything about his performance. He thought John was too busy typing their most recent case.
'You're welcome,' John replied, looking back down at his laptop.
Sherlock turned his back on John once again. 'Actually, are you busy right now?' he asked, facing John.
John looked up. 'I mean, I'm not doing anything I can't do later.'
'If it isn't any trouble,' Sherlock continued.
'Course not,' John shook his head, closing his laptop.
'I'd like a second opinion,' Sherlock tapped the screen of his phone.
'Of the song?'
'Well, kind of,' Sherlock shrugged. 'I want to know how it goes with real people dancing to it.'
'So you want me to waltz with an imaginary partner?' John laughed.
'No, of course not,' Sherlock rolled his eyes. 'I recorded myself playing the waltz so that we can... well, so that we can dance together.'
John blushed. 'Is this about that night?' he asked. 'That was a week ago. I just had a nightmare.'
'It has nothing to do with that,' Sherlock lied. He seemed to have fooled John. 'I just want to know how it feels.'
John thought for a moment. 'Alright,' he stood up.
Sherlock tried to contain his smile as he plugged his phone into a speaker. He started the music.
John placed on hand on Sherlock's shoulder as Sherlock placed one of his hands on John's hip. John bit his lip and gave Sherlock a look that said "Watch it."
'Have you ever danced before?' Sherlock asked as their fingers intertwined.
'I can't say that I'm any good,' John shook his head.
Sherlock sighed. 'Well, I guess I'm going to have to teach you first.'
'Okay,' John said. 'Show me.'
As his song played, Sherlock showed John the steps of a waltz. He caught on surprisingly quickly. Soon, the two men were dancing together in the flat they shared. John feared that Mrs. Hudson would walk in on them. Sherlock completely forgot the excuse he told John to dance with him. As the song reached it's last couple of measures, Sherlock suddenly lowered John into a gentle dip. John's hand slid to the back of Sherlock's neck as he was forced to lean backwards. His face reddened as he struggled to lean back. His neck stiffened, his heart rate became faster. Sherlock smiled and let his nose touch John's which led to a quick kiss. John almost slipped from Sherlock's arm.
'I've got you,' Sherlock reassured, sensing John's fear. He lifted John back up. Sherlock noticed John's pupils were dilated and his forehead was a bit more reflective that it normally was. Sherlock put his hand on John's neck to check his pulse. John thought Sherlock was being romantic. John's pulse was quick.
'High pulse, dilated pupils, sweating,' Sherlock noted out loud. 'Reddening of the face.'
John felt uneasy.
'Don't say you're not in love,' Sherlock smiled. He kept his hand on John's neck.
'I—,' John began. He didn't know what to say.
Sherlock giggled. 'I know, you thought I didn't have a clue what love was. Of course I do.' Sherlock placed his other hand on John's neck so that both of his hands cupped the back of John's neck. Sherlock leaned forward and kissed John again.
John realised what was happening and kissed Sherlock back. He held his hands behind Sherlock's waist and stood on his toes to try and meet Sherlock's height. John broke the kiss by smiling.
'I thought you'd never give in,' Sherlock flirted.
'Shut up,' John giggled as he dove back in for another kiss.
