I woke up to Esra sitting on the bed. She was watching me sleep. How long was she awake?
"You missed papa, " I sat up and rubbed my head. "He was sitting here with me while you were asleep. He said he was coming back shortly."
Sinbad was here? In this room? I still had my clothes on and my hair was still fine. Nothing was out of place. I remembered what that woman said to me last night, about being sold into slavery again. I didn't want to believe her, but I also didn't want to press my luck with her.
So I decided to stay clear from her and Sinbad, my only reason for staying here was because of Esra. I sat in the chairs and watched her get dressed. My eyes floated towards the door, when I heard a knock.
"Papa!" Esra opened the door. She was smiling at Sinbad ,before going to hug his leg. "You came back! Just like you said!"
I stood up and walked into the bathroom, listening to those two interact with each other. It made me happy that she was still able to smile. . I was brushing my hair and hoping to tame the flyaways.
"Why would I not come back to see my princess?" He asks.
"Because you and Mama are fighting," Esra said,I looked at Sin through the mirror. "I heard you yelling at her and she yelled back."
"My little lady," Sinbad was on his knees. "I love your mother. She's a very special lady to me, the reason why we fought yesterday was because I was scared of losing you both."
"But ..." She began.
"He's right,Esra. " I stood by the window. "Your father and I will fight sometimes, but that doesn't mean that neither of us will neglect our duties as your Mama and Papa. We still love you."
"But Anna said, that family should love each other. You don't love each other. " Esra said. Oh how I wanted to scold Anna right now.
Sinbad was smirking. "I do love your mother ,Esra. Despite our past. "
"Mama...?" Esra looked over at me. "Do you love papa?"
Sinbad turned his head towards me. One eye brow arched up as everyone awaits my answer.
"I love your father with all of my heart. " I said. I couldn't stop blushing. "It may have taken a while for me to admit this to myself, but I do love your father very, very, very much."
Sinbad was smiling. Did he see through my lie? I tried not to make it so obvious.
"So there," Sinbad said. "I love your mother more than I love my wine. "
I knew that was a lie.
"I may have put her through horrid things, and have hurt her so many times; but I do love her. And I regret hurting her after all this time."
I felt tears in my eyes. I had wiped them away and watched Sinbad speak with her.
I think we've convinced her well enough.
"I want proof!" I shot a glare at Esra. She was wearing her brightest smile.
"I ...I had just woken up...!" I said, hugging my arms. I didn't even shower, nor did I brush my teeth.
"That has never stopped me before." Sinbad said with a smirk on his face.
"Nothing seems to stop you from what you truly want." I remarked. Sinbad winked at me.
"You've finally noticed that." He says, before standing so close to me. I wanted to go hide, but Esra was here. She had no idea what all Sinbad has done. All of these lies and painful things.
