When the ones I hold close,

Pass on cold and out of the blue.

My feelings will freeze up,

So this is what I will do.

On a midnight clear,

You'll find me on my knees praying.

On a cold, stony, hard ground,

Where your tombstone is laying.

The tears will soak through the dirt,

And the ground will no longer be warm.

My body will turn cold and sodden,

From the unforgiving storm.

The weather will be unforgiving,

It feels my pain and disregards me.

The rain and my tears combined,

Will form a river, a flood, a sea.

The dirt will feel my pain,

The flowers will talk to me.

They will ask me why I'm crying,

And why I feel so lonely.

And when I finally stand up,

And leave the cemetery where you lie.

I'll tell myself everything will be okay,

And I won't be afraid to die.
