Lone Wolf

Chapter Three - Calum

     "Karmin! Akari! Where are you guys?!" I shout through the tunnels and hope they can hear me.

     "Calum!" I hear faint voices screaming my name throughout the tunnels. It must be Akari and Karmin. I make my way towards the voices.

     "Help us!" I hear echoing through the tunnels, it's Akari and Karmin crying for help.

     As soon as I hear their calls I head to their locations. Once I get close all I see is them being dragged out of the tunnels. I don't even know what to do, I just freeze there. I know I need to help them, but I can't take on the guards by myself. I need to go find help. But where the hell am I supposed to get help? The only friend I really have is Karmin. Then I realize something, I've ran into some lone wolves recently, maybe I can go find them and get them to help me. I peak my head out of the tunnels and I see that the guards are far enough away for me to escape.

     "What the hell are you doing you damn fleabag! You're just gonna turn tail and leave us to die?! Some friend you are!"  I hear Karmin yelling at me using her gift. I stop to turn and look at them.

     "I'm not leaving you guys. I'm going to get help. Just hang in there, alright? I shouldn't be long."  I tell Karmin, hopefully reassuring her.

     I continue running, I'm trying to catch the scent of one of the lone wolves I've ran into. I slow down to a fast walk. I think I've caught the scent of one of them. I begin looking around to try and spot the wolf. Then, out of nowhere it jumps out of the bushes and pins me.

     "What the hell are you doing here?! This is my territory, so if you want to live I suggest you start explaining yourself!" The lone she-wolf practically yells in my face. Yeah I understand I'm trespassing on a wolf's territory, but I need the help.

     "Listen, I don't mean to cause you any trouble. I just need some help."

     "Oh yeah? What kind of help?" The she-wolf asks me.

     I then explain my situation. I tell her that my friends got captured by the pack guard and what we went through. You know, I really don't know why I'm running. I planned on turning myself in and we ended up going to visit the packs Shamen. Why didn't I just turn myself in right then and there? Why did I run? Maybe because I don't want my friends and I to die. I sigh and shake my head. After I'm done explaining everything to the she-wolf, I ask her if she'll help me.

     "Yeah I'll help you. But do you really think that just the two of us can take on the pack guard?" She asks me.

     "No." I say. "That's why we have to find other wolves that'll help us."

     "I think I may know some wolves that'll help us." She tells me. "Follow me." So I do.

     We've been walking through the forest for what seems like forever. I hope Akari and Karmin are okay. If we head back there and their, dead, I will personally kill the alpha myself. I sigh heavily.

     "What's wrong?" The she-wolf asks me.

     "Nothing." I answer. "Hey, what's your name anyways?" I ask her.

     "I'm, uh, Solar." She replies. I can see why her name would be that, her fur is almost as yellow as the sun, but her pelt is more tan colored. "What about you? What's your name?"

     "I'm Calum." I tell her.

     "Nice name."

     "Thanks. Yours too."

     "Thanks."

     We both look at each other, then we look ahead of us. Solar starts to walk ahead of me a bit. I wonder if we're close to these other wolves. Then she stops and crouches then motions for me to do the same. And I do.

     "We're here. Be quiet and stay here, I don't want him to flip out when he sees you." She whispers to me.

     "So you know this wolf personally?" I ask her.

     "Yes. Now stop asking questions and just stay here until I say otherwise, got it?" 

     "I got it. I got it." I say.

     Solar gets up and walks to the male wolf but she doesn't rush it, she takes her time. If she knows this wolf personally then why is she taking so long to get to him? I don't get it, what's with this wolf?

     "Ah, Solar. What a pleasure to see you here. It has been, quite some time since our last meeting. Hasn't it?" I hear a male voice speaking to Solar like some, evil villain.

     "Indeed. It has been quite some time, Shadow. But I don't have time to quarrel with you, it's urgent." Solar says firmly. "Do you think you can help me?"

     The male wolf, Shadow, comes into my view. He's a dark grey pelted wolf, pretty tall too. He seems to be taller than me, not by much though. Shadow and Solar stare each other down for a while, then Shadow begins to circle Solar slowly. 

     "What is it you need help with Solar?" He asks her, still circling her, slowly.

     Solar takes a little while to answer him. "Well, you see," But before I hear her finish her sentence, I hear something behind me. I turn around and am instantly knocked out. After a short while I hear "Shadow! Shadow! Look at what I've found snoopin' around." coming from a males voice. I feel myself get dropped down, I must've been carried. I slowly start to wake up.

     "Who is this? Solar, is this some sort of spy?!" Shadow seems to be getting pretty pissed.

     "Shadow, just calm down and let me explain!" Solar raises her voice and stands tall. She's by my side now, she seems to be defending me. 

     "I'm listening." Shadow sits and listens while Solar explains what happened.

     I start to get up slowly and Solar helps me up "So will you help us?" Solar asks him. 

     Shadow smiles slightly and nods his head yes. He motions for his friend, the one who knocked me out, to follow us. I'm not even going to hold a grudge for it, he was just doing what he should to protect his own.

     "Lead the way you two. Blaze and I will follow." Shadow says. He seems to be much calmer and more laid back than before.

     But with that being said, we head for the pack territory. I really hope that four wolves will be enough to take on the pack guards. I just want to rescue my friends. Akari, Karmin, we're coming to save you.
