The four boys walked along the halls. Luckily, not many people were outside of their dorms. It was currently 8:15 pm, which was around the time where the school was usually hyped up and causing trouble. Especially since it was Saturday night. But it was oddly quiet. The boys didn't think much of it. After all, it must be tiring to think of new ways to piss off all the supervisors and deans every day.
"Now, we're just going to take your picture, create the ID, and head out of here. You need to co-operate and we can get this done quickly." Hunter explained to Bradley as they reached the photography room, Myles and Charlie following close behind as they had their own conversation.
Hunter turned the knob on the door and tried to push it open. It never budged, so he stepped back confused.
"What's wrong?" Myles looked up and paused the conversation between him and Charlie. Hunter cursed under his breath and crossed his arms, trying to think of what to do.
Hunter spun around, looking at the other boys. "It's locked."
"Well unlock it." Charlie replied, not really paying attention to the conversation. He didn't think much of what he said, and he stared at the other boys fake, dumbfound looks.
"Man, if only I thought of that." Hunter said sarcastically. He started searching through his pockets, "Just let me find the key-oh wait. I don't have one." He looked at Charlie as if the young boy was the stupidest person in the world. Charlie's eyes widened as he put his hands up in a surrender. He mumbled a quick sorry and looked down.
Myles patted Charlie's back and looked over at Hunter, "what do we do now?"
"Guess you can't come!" Hunters eyes lit up as he shifted his gaze over to Bradley. Bradley smiled sadly for a moment, then it changed, as he thought of a good idea. "We could easily just ask the office for the key!"
Myles leaned against the wall, beside the photography room door. He crossed his arms, "we could," he said, as everyone put their attention on him. "but the office doesn't allow the classrooms to be open after classes. Unless it was an emergency or someone forgot something in it."
"Easy," Charlie butted in, "we'll just say that we forgot something."
Hunter linked his arm with Charlie's, expecting Bradley and Myles to follow suit. "Off we go then. We don't have much time." Hunter quickened his pace, remembering that they close the office at 9:00.
"I'm so excited!" Bradley smiled and clapped, as he attempted to link his arm with Charlie's. Charlie mentally protested, as he held his arm tightly to his body, so that Bradley couldn't scoop his arm through. Bradley stopped once he got rejected, and watched Hunter and Charlie walk ahead of him. Bradley shrugged it off and skipped along, close behind. "I feel like such a bad boy." He squealed.
"Yeah, yeah." Hunter said, waving off Bradley's statement as they reached the office. They walked in, and spotted the secretary sitting at her desk.
They walked up to her, and she smiled politely at them. "Yes?" She asked.
"We need the key to the photography room." Hunter spoke up. Behind him, Myles was leaning against the door frame. Bradley had been behind Myles, trying to peer over his shoulder. He was too short, and he tried pushing past Myles, but the curly haired boy didn't budge. Bradley sighed and stood back, looking around as he crossed his arms.
"What for?" The secretary asked, glancing down at the drawer where the key rested.
"Charlie uh, forgot something." Hunter bumped said-boy gently and Charlie's eyes widened, being caught off guard. "I did?" He whispered, "I uh, yes! I did!" He spoke louder, trying to sound confident.
The secretary lifted an eyebrow, as the phone rang. "Just a second." She lifted a finger and picked up the phone.
"We all know women mean an hour when they say a second." Hunter mumbled and Myles pushed off the frame, kicking Hunter's leg from behind.
"Hey. That's sexist." Myles whispered, glaring at Hunter. Bradley slipped into the room, eavesdropping on the conversation.
"But totally true." Bradley held up his fist, for a fist bump. But Myles scrunched his eyebrows, looking confused at Bradley. Hunter shrugged and looked away, ignoring him.
Hunter ran his hands through his hair, and turned so his back was facing the secretary. "How are we gonna get the key?" He said quietly through his gritted teeth.
"We could wait until she's done talking on the phone." Charlie whispered, matter-of-factly.
"No be quiet Charlie." Hunter whispered loudly and turned to look at the secretary that was facing away from them, sitting in the chair. "We should just quickly open the drawer, take the key and go." As this was said, Myles, Bradley's, and Charlie's eyes widened at the suggestion.
"I don't think it'll be that easy." Myles said, keeping his voice low.
Hunter straightened, and spun around, noticing the secretary still talking away on the phone.
The boys silently watched, as Hunter tip-toed to the side of the desk, beside the drawer.
"And I was like, Amber you can't do that to people. But obviously Amber doesn't care, she said she could do whatever she wants." The secretary rambled on, and Hunter turned, raising an eyebrow as he eavesdropped on the conversation. The other boys shrugged, also hearing the conversation, but didn't think much of it. Hunter turned back, and made sure the secretary couldn't see out of the corner of her eye.
Hunter waved his hand at the secretary, who didn't notice. He counted to three, and slid the drawer open quickly, and found the key resting on a stack of papers. He slowly grabbed it, and tried closing the door which ended up squeaking with every movement. "Shit." Hunter said under his breath, he threw the key to Myles, who hid it in his pocket as quick as he could.
The secretary spun around in her chair, covering the phone with her shoulder. "What are you doing?" She asked, slightly annoyed.
Hunter backed up, his eyes wide. He shrugged and put his hands in his pockets. "Nothing. I uh.." He panicked, trying to think of an excuse. The other boys watched carefully as they slowly started backing out of the room. The secretary set the phone down, not caring that she was still on a call. She straightened in her seat, and glanced at the half-open drawer. "Were you-" before she could finish her sentence, Hunter picked up some paper that was sprawled around on the desk, and threw it in the air in front of her. "Thanks for your time." He ran to exit out of the room, and everyone was shoving each other out of the door.
"Hey!" They heard the secretary scream, but they continued running down the hall.
Charlie looked over his shoulder for a brief moment, seeing the secretary struggle to take her high heels off as she was running after them.
The boys slid across the floor as they turned a corner, and ran towards the photography room.
