Chapter 3

I woke up to the sweet sound of trucks, car horns, sirens, and all the other calming sounds downtown Chicago provides. I rolled over and looked at my phone, my head pounding from last night, something I vaguely remember. As I looked at my phone, I saw a message from an unfamiliar number.

'Hey, you ran out so quickly I wasn't able to talk to you! I was wondering if you wanted to grab breakfast or lunch?'

I felt my heart drop as I thought of all the possibilities that could've happened as a result of last night. My heart raced as I called Colin, praying that he'd pick up.

"What Abigail?" He hissed, the sound of cars speeding past him faintly lingered in the background.

"What did I do last night?" I gulped and Colin laughed.

"Why?" I could picture the annoying smirk on his face.

"A got a text from somebody asking me to meet them for breakfast..." I nervously jumped out of my bed and ran into my bathroom. "What did I do?" I gulped and Colin continued to laugh.

"Go, I promise it's nobody bad!" He chirped and I looked in the mirror. "It's the guy you met before the game, with the sunglasses!"

"And the hat?" I mumbled.

"And the hat!" Colin laughed. "I gotta go before I'm late, but, have fun!"

"So I should go?" I leaned against my sink and Colin huffed.

"Yes, Abigail! I'm hanging up now... Text me when you get there!" He hissed before abruptly hanging up. I laughed slightly and looked back in the mirror.

"Welp, here goes nothing!" I sighed before texting the number back. I had an hour until I has to be at the cafe down the street from my apartment.

Quickly, I sprayed some dry shampoo into my long, straight, honey brown hair and rubbed it in. I applied a faint amount of mascara to make my green eyes pop more than they already do against my sun kissed skin and I rushed into my room. As I tried to pull on a pair of white tailor trousers that fit like skinny jeans and royal blue casual round neck plain blouse, I also furiously brushed my teeth. When everything was on and cleaned up, I sat down on my bed and pulled on a pair of white Steve Madden strappy heels and clipped on my silver heart locket necklace.

Before I ran out of my apartment, I grabbed my phone and my black Michael Kors purse, hurry to the cafe.

As I stepped into the warm little store in downtown Chicago, I felt my heart drop as I saw the man sitting at a booth, looking out the window.

"Can I help you m'am?" The hostess smiled and I shook my head.

"No, I see who I'm supposed to be meeting, but thank you!" I smiled brightly before walking over to the muscular man, my heart racing fast then the cabs outside, zipping through the busy streets.
