___________________________After meeting the prince, I eagerly headed to my rooms. I walked in and sighed in delight.
The walls and carpet were light blue, the bedspread a nice lilac, with white curtains over the windows. There was a door to a bathroom, and on the other side I could see a huge bath.
There were paintings adorning the walls, mostly of outside scenes.
There were three girls standing by the bed, and as I walked in one of them rushed over to me. She had light blonde waves, and big blue eyes.
"I'm so so so excited! When they said I was to be your maid, well I was just... I love your movies!" The girl was almost crying and looked very...
"Amy! We are to take care of her, not fangirl!" An older woman stepped forward, maybe 30. She seemed to be the head maid, and looked as if she knew she was in charge. She had darker skin, with beautiful black curls and brown elven like eyes.
"I am Lilian, that is Amy," she pointed at the girl, who was still calming down.
"And this is Padma." She gestured so a silent girl who was just nearing me. She looked as if from Chinese descent, and had their eyes and skin tone. Her hair was straight, and an olive colour.
All three of them smiled at me, Padma more timid than the rest.
"Hello girls. My name is Annabelle, and my goodness you look excited." I smiled kindly at Amy and she squealed.
"Sorry Miss, but I just, love your work and it's so amazing to be serving you..."
She trailed off as Lilian gave her a cold stare.
"So, what's the plans for tonight?" I asked, diverting the subject.
"Well." Padma came forwards. Her voice was soft, and she was wearing a timid smile, almost as if she was afraid.
"Let the selected hang out for a bit, then get them cleaned up and prepared for a diner with the royal family." She recited, as if reading directly from a schedule.
"Sounds easy enough." I laughed, and Amy laughed along with me. She was so sweet, even though a bit too much of a fangirl.
"Amy, I need your help." I turned to the girl.
"Me? Are you sure you didn't mean Lilian, she is better at being a maid, I mean I'm really kinda new, and I guess I can be a big much sometimes, oh god I'm doing it again." Se came to a stop and looked down at her feet, embarrassed.
"I need to have a bath. But the thing is, I don't know what there is to use here. Help me?" I said calmly as the girl started to blush.
"You... Want me to bathe you?" She asked.
"Goodness no!" I replied, aghast. "I just need help drawing the bath and picking out bath balms, shampoos, etc."
"Ooh of course I'll help!" The girl squeaked.
"Good, good." I said, and we retreated into the bathroom.
___________________________"So what are you working on now?" Amy asked.
We had been in there for half an hour, smelling bath balms and shampoos. She had questioned my about my work, and talked about her favourites. I asked a bit about her, and she said that she came from a small town in Calgary, born at a farm, then come to love here. It was great talking to her, and I hoped I was strong all the craziness out of her system.
"The depth. It's about a girl whose stuck on an island sinking rapidly into sea." I said.
"But I guess I can't do it now as..." I gestured around me."Of course!" She smiled.
At that moment, Lilian bursted in.
"Annabelle, we need to get you ready. Now."
The maids left as I bathed. The tub was huge, and the salts Amy and I picked out were doing wonderfully with my skin.
I stepped out and Padma helped me dry my hair, all the while keeping silent and looking curiously at me.
We headed for the huge closet at the side of my room, which Padma threw open.
In it there were a wide range of dresses, in all different colours, but one caught my eye.
It was a simple dress, a thin silk, the colour of a newly bloomed lilac. It had a simple square neckline, lined with white pearls. The sleeves were laced with, well, lace.
I slipped it on and it was the perfect size. It felt so light in my skin, as if I was wearing only a slip.
Amy was an expert in eye makeup, and she did a wonderful job. My eyes looked wide like a doe.
They made a braided crown with my hair that went along my hairline and embedded if with forget-me-nots, to accent my eyes.
I smiled as I looked in the mirror. I actually looked like princess material.
