{ Carson's POV }

Every one was dead silent. The only noise was the leafy terrain crunching underneath our feet. Once in a while one of us would jump at any other sounds. We continued on the trail until we found a large boulder on the side of it that we all climbed onto and sat down.

"Alright," Aliyah began as she set the timer on her phone for 20 minutes, "The timer starts now!" She pressed the start button and I watched as the numbers counted down.

I let out an uneasy laugh,"This isn't so bad. Huh?"

"I guess..." said Christina uncomfortably.

I began to feel my palms become clammy and weak. 'Don't let fear get the best of you! ' I'd keep thinking to my self, becoming frustrated with my emotions.

"This is pretty cool," stated Aliyah surely,"20 minutes will be over before you know it." She looked over at me as she said this and I realized that I was very tense. I rubbed my neck, relieving some of the strain. It was quiet for a few more minutes until someone spoke again.

"H-Hanna?" Christina questioned, drawing our attention towards her and Hanna.

Hanna's hands were planted firmly against the rock and she was numb with terror and panic. She stared straight forward, her eyes stuck looking into the distance.

"Hanna!" Aliyah shook Hanna's shoulders, pulling her out of her odd daze,"Tell us. What is it? What do you see?" Aliyah's once strong voice was now trembling with alarm.

"I- I,"Hanna started," I think someone is watching us," she was barely able to get out the words. I choked up and held my breath, afraid to follow Hanna's gaze.

A dark silhouette bolted across the brush that was about 10 feet away from us.

"Who's there?!" called out Christina. "You had better have a good reason for frightening my friends! Show yourself!"

The world seemed to have slowed down as a tall, dark figure emerged from the ground. My heart nearly burst as the individual started to make its way toward us, gaining speed with every step.

The only thing I could remember in that moment was the 'thing' lunging at us and the blood-curdling shrieks of my friends. Just before I fell, hitting my head with a loud CRACK on the ground and everything fading from my vision.
