"I'm bored" A soft female voice echoed around a small jail cell. The owner of the voice was sat on the cell's floor which contained patches of dried blood. The woman called Lucy Heartfilia has been the occupant of this small cell for the last three months all because a job that went wrong led to a church being burnt to the ground. Letting out a sigh she got up and searched her brain for a way to get out from her training, one lesson popped to mind.
Flashback 10 years ago
A seven year old Lucy was locked in a steel cage that was roughly ten by ten foot, she had one task: get out of the cage. This task as simple as it sounds had Lucy in the cage for two days searching for ways to get out while running on low energy from hunger and slight dehydration before she took a small dagger from her boot and walked to the cage 'door'.
When she reached the door Lucy took a quick look at the lock to see her plan would succeed, Lucy took out a lockpick from her small kit that was hidden on the inside of her belt. Jamming the dagger into the lock she slid the lockpick in above the dagger and twisted it in clockwise and counterclockwise applying a bit of force every few angles to find the tension angle to break the lock. After a few minutes of searching she found the angle and used the dagger to break the lock. Sighing in relief Lucy dismounted the lock from the cage door. She quickly ran back to her hut
Flashback End
"Nevermind, forgot they took away my tools." Lucy sighed in defeat.
Lucy silently stood up when she heard the familiar clicking sounds that the warden made when she came to visit Lucy, "Hello Warden Rose" Lucy softly greeted her warden, whom in return greeted and stated, "Hello Lucy. I have some great news for the both of us." Tensing slightly Lucy sarcastically asked, "Oh, finally executing me?" With a dry laugh at the end Lucy waited for Rose's response, Rose rolled her eyes then informed Lucy, "I have a message from the Magic Council." Coughing softly, Rose continued, "'Miss Lucy Heartfilia we are giving you a chance for parole. You will be the first agent to be sent through an anima into a new world. In this other world you would need to collect various different information such as: their Ecosystem, their Military Capabilities, their Social Structure, and more. Upon completion of this job your bounty will be wiped clean and you will be released."
Letting the information sink in, Lucy slowly went over the advantages and disadvantages of the mission. After fifteen minutes Lucy looked up to Rose with a curious glint in her brown eyes before saying, "I will take your mission." With a slight nod of her head Rose turned around and spoke into a communication lacrima, "Tell the Council that Miss Heartfilia has agreed to their proposition. And get me a personal guard to escort Miss Heartfilia to the Council's meeting room."
After thirty slow minutes of Lucy being released, escorted by a guard to the council meeting room, Lucy was standing at the base of the Council's meeting room with all eyes on her as they went over the messages content again. One councilman told Lucy, "If you are ready to head off, we will send you through the anima." Lucy took a quick second to assess her combat readiness before informing the council, "I need my sword and daggers back, I need to stock up on throwing daggers as well as a couple of healing lacrimas. And I am guessing I will still be able to use my magic in the other side, or do I need to take a pill before I go?" The room was silent for a few seconds before the councilman from earlier answered, "You will not need any pills to keep your magic. For the items you have requested, we are bringing them up now. You will leave in one hour."
