❆ Lonely This Christmas ❆
"You kissed him!" Gabby screamed. I winced and held the phone away from my ear. "I can't believe it." I heard her say calmly.
I pressed the phone back to my ear. "Neither can I. I don't know what came over me."
"Hormones are what came over you. Those nasty little buggers like to control us when we're at our weakest."
"I become a bumbling mess whenever he is around – which is most of the time." I said tucking my knees underneath my chin.
I was sat on my bed leaning against the array of cushions along the headboard. I had just come out of the shower so my hair was still wrapped in a white towel upon my head and I had slipped on my dressing gown.
"What happened after you kissed him?" Gabby asked. I could picture her leaning into the phone and hanging onto my every word.
"I realised I was kissing him and bolted for the door before he could stop me." I cringed at the memory of Jacob's shocked face as I pulled away and practically leapt off his lap.
"Damn it."
"What?"
"Nothing." She mumbled and I rolled my eyes. "So, have you seen him since?" She asked.
I sighed, "No, I've been hiding up in my room like a teenager."
Gabby laughed down the phone. "Oh honey, you're twenty-two live a little. Grab life by the metaphorical balls and go win your man back. But from what you've told me over the past couple of days it sounds to me like there will be no 'winning' involved, he's more than ready to have you back."
I smiled at her reply.
"We're all going out for a Christmas meal in an hour, Jacob included." I said waiting for her reaction.
"Perfect timing," She nearly squealed. "What dresses did you take with you? How are you planning to do your hair? Heels or flats?"

I ended up getting ready with Gabby throwing out orders over speakerphone. She had instructed me to pour myself a glass of wine to help calm the nerves that were bubbling in the pit of my stomach.
I had opted for a jumpsuit that was both smart and sexy. The white plunge V neck showed off a flirty amount of cleavage and the black tapered trousers were sophisticated. However, my favourite detail of the jumpsuit was the reverse plunge at the back which displayed a considerable amount of skin. That will be a nice treat for Jacob's eyes.
I'd paired the jumpsuit with some simple accessories and plain black heels. For my hair I had parted it down the middle and straightened it so that it appeared slicked back and smooth.
I had just finished my make-up when my mum's voice shouted up the stairs, "Talia! We're all waiting for you!"
"Coming!" I shouted back.
I gulped down the rest of my second glass of wine and said goodbye to Gabby before hanging up. I grabbed my leather jacket and purse off the bed and checked my appearance once more in the mirror.
"Here's goes nothing." I whispered, pulling on the jacket and walking out of my room.
I kept my eyes focused on the stairs as I made my way down, trying my best not to fall flat on my face. I could feel several pairs of eyes on me but I stayed focused on the task at hand. I looked up to find my mum standing there with her mouth open.
