Claire's POV
"3...2...1."
North ran over to the emergency switch and flipped it, and the signal was sent out to the other Guardians.
"How did I know you were going to do that, North?" I laughed a bit harder than I should've before sighing. "You've got nothing to worry about, North. If it was an issue, Manny would've told me...it's not an issue, is it?" I turned and looked at the bright moon containing my best and only friend.
Not at the moment. It will be in about a month.
"Mkay." I sighed, bringing my knees to my chest before resting my chin on them. I watched the floor give way to a tunnel, which Bunny hopped out of, before starting his rant about calling him so close to Easter. Then, Tooth appeared with a couple of baby teeth flying about, and her giving directions into her headset. Following her was Sandy, looking as sleepy as ever. And of course, the last one was late. Like always. I looked out the window I was sitting next to, and saw him flying at full speed to the door.
"Where's Jack?" Tooth asked sweetly, floating an inch off the ground.
"Late as always, mate." Bunny said, leaning against the wall while painting an egg.
"Actually he's almost here!" I shout down, "I've got the vantage point from here!" which was true. I was sitting in the crook of the window they used to watch the moon through. I always sat there during a Guardian meeting.
"Did ya hear that, mate?" Bunny's ears went up, twitching. My voice sounds like the wind to them. Which made sense because I am the wind.
"Must've been the wind." North stated in the Russian accent I absolutely love. I love accents in general, to be honest. To myself, I don't sound like I have an accent, but Manny says I have a British one.
"Ahh, Jack, you finally made it!" North boomed loudly.
"Took ya long enough." Bunny muttered, sending Jack a death glare before going back to his painting. Jack kicked up his staff over his shoulder and smirked.
"Sorry I'm late, North, got caught in a miniature hurricane." That caused Bunny to snicker in the corner, not taking his eyes of the delicate art he held in his hand.
"Oh good, you did get my gift. I'm glad." I said somewhat sarcastically. As you can probably tell, I'm not Jack's biggest fan. It may or may not be because he takes the attention he gets for granted, while I'm sitting here, unseen.
"What was that?" He said, screwing his face up in confusion.
"What was what, Jack?" Tooth flew over to him, trying to subtly see into his mouth to look at his teeth.
"That no- nevermind." He said when he realized everyone was looking at him oddly.
"Must've been the wind." I mutter sadly.
Oh Claire, don't be so sad. Manny said, seeing me in distress.
"How can I not be?" I ask, looking up.
I don't know... He sighed, watching the other Guardians carefully.
"So you're saying, you thought you saw Pitch?!" Bunny said, "Thought?!"
"Hate to break it to you, but he's kind of right." Tooth said, rubbing her arm. Sandy just nodded vigorously.
"See, even Sandy, the first and wisest Guardian agrees with me. You can't argue with that." I heard Bunny say.
I rolled my eyes. This again?
Sandy isn't the first Guardian. Manny is. Then there's me. So Sandy is the third Guardian. Third.
"For the last time, Sandy's not the first Guardian!" I yell lazily, even though I know it'd be no use.
"See, there! Now I know I wasn't just hearing things!" Jack, who if course wasn't paying attention, jumped up, startling everyone else. "Who said that?!"
Wait, he's not talking about me, right?
No of course he's not. Nobody except Manny can hear me, because of the Laws of the Immortals.
But who was he talking about?
