My response to that warm up question
People are born imperfect. But that doesn't mean they are evil. We were a baby, young and innocent, unaware of the wicked world we had been born into. Unaware of the suffering caused by evil people. Those evil people may hurt and even kill innocent people, simply for the fun of it. But we can't forget that they were once young and innocent too, even if it was only for a short period of time. Everyone has a start. We all are reliant on someone. Things we experience as a young child shape us. So even though we may have a good start, we can all too easily stray. Imperfection and evil are two very different things, though we may get them mixed up sometimes. An imperfection is a flaw. But flaws aren't always bad. They are just unique. We aren't all born racist or judgmental. Evil is knowing what's right and wrong and making the decision to do the wrong thing. We aren't born evil. We choose to be evil. So to answer the question, I think we are born good. But the world we live in doesn't allow some to stay that way. That's how it's always been and that's how it will always be. Don't be the reason someone turns evil. Be the reason they stay good.
