Jayden woke up early the next morning to the sound of the barn's rooster. She stretched before getting out of her bed, heading to the kitchen for coffee. It was silent save for the sound of the coffee machine as she leaned against the counter.
She rubbed a hand over her eyes to get the sleep from them, taking the pot of caffe and pouring it into a mug.Drinking her coffee, she headed to her room to get dressed. Jayden could hear the rooster calling as she got dressed in shorts and an old t-shirt. She made sure to grab some clothes for Tennin as well so he could wear something else. Jayden finished her coffee before putting her long hair up in a messy ponytail on her way to the door, stopping by the kitchen to put her coffee mug into it.
She left her house and headed over to the barn. The rooster called again, followed by an irritated sound that she guessed was Tennin. The barn was illuminated with light as she slid open the doors, stirring the dust on the ground and making it float into the air and reflecting in in the sunlight.
"Tennin?" Jayden looked around, not seeing the winged boy anywhere.
"You need to make your bird stop that awful noise." She heard from above. The girl looked up to see Tennin sitting on one of the beams, his wings folded behind him as he looked down at her.
Jayden laughed a little. "You look like a giant owl." She said to him. The boy let out a 'tsk' as he spread his wings. He slid off the beam and glided down to the barn floor, fumbling in flight before he landed and stumbling slightly to catch his balance.
"Are you okay?" Jayden asked, concern showing on her face. Tennin folded his right wing behind him but kept his left wing open. Jayden watched as he examined his wing for a few moments, opening and closing the wing a few times looking for the problem before he cringed a little.
"There's still a sprain."
"Still?" Jayden asked. A bit worried for the boy. "How long have you had one?" She finished.
"I'm assuming that I got it when I crashed in your field. It's not as bad as it was the day before." He said, folding his wing carefully behind himself.
"That's why you weren't able to fly away." Jayden said, more to herself than to Tennin."Precisely." He said. Jayden went closer to Tennin and looked at his wing.
"Do you want me to wrap it for you to make it get better faster? I have some supplies for things like this." She suggested. The angel shook his head.
"It is almost finished healing as it is." He told her.
"How is that possible? Do you have healing powers or something?" She asked, disbelief in her voice. Tennin shook his head again.
"No. my wounds and injuries heal faster than a human's." He explained."Because you're an angel"
"It should heal in about 30 minutes if I don't do anything with it." He said.
"Alright then, if you're sure. But that means no trying to fly for that time okay?" The boy nodded and was going to say something when he was interrupted by the rooster. He had an irritated look on his face and Jayden chuckled quietly. She handed him the clothes she got for him.
"I got you some clothes to change into." She said as he took the clothes.
"Why do I need to change." He asked, tilting his head."Well I didn't think you'd want to wear the same thing you wore last night since you've been in the barn and got all the dust particles on them. I can see dust stains on your pants because you were on that beam." She explained to him. Tennin looked down at his pants and sure enough there were dust and dirt stains on the back of his knees and thighs.
"Then I'll just change those." He said. Jayden sighed.
"Alright fine. Suit yourself." She said as he handed her the shirt back. "I'm going to feed the turkeys. You can get yourself changed while I'm doing that." She said as she went to a supply closet in the barn and got out the feed for the turkeys.
