I watched Kyle as he carefully clicked the notes icon on the phone. The light of the phone shining on his face and the glare reflecting in his eyes. I smiled and shook my head, walking towards the kitchen. I slowly placed the newspaper down on the counter and picked up the cup of warm tea I made earlier. "So... this is all you found?" Kyle asked. My eyes widened. "What the hell!? That's like freaking five paragraphs of information!" I yelled angrily. Kyle laughed. My expression softened seeing him smile. "I was kidding, you idiot!" Kyle said teasingly. I rolled my eyes and leaned on the wall beside me, taking a sip of my tea.
*Flashback*
Bzzt bzzt bzzt... "oh god, what now?" I asked myself as I took my vibrating phone out of the pocket of my jeans. I had gotten a text from my boss. 'We have a meeting at 10 o'clock sharp. Be there, Agent Matthews.' "A text from the boss?" I asked myself. It was strange, I had always gotten calls from him. But apparently not today.
I walked to the small office across the street from where I currently was. My boss said we had to keep our company secret, so we couldn't have any big buildings. Thing is, it's not how you think it would probably look. You may think it's all high tech, flashing lights, and being able to hear the fast clicks of the keyboards... but no. Our office is disguised as a small restaurant. It looks very simple in the front but little do people know, in the back there's a hatch, which leads to the basement, aka, my headquarters. Which does, in fact look like what you'd expect it to be.
I walked down the stairs below the hatch, as I listened to the echo of my footsteps. I then heard that familiar sound. The sound of beeping and constant keyboard clicks from all around, surrounding me. I saw the flashing lights of computers and walked past my fellow hackers. I got a couple looks, but kept my head up and walked straight to my boss's office.
I entered the office and instead of seeing my boss... as I closed the door I saw bright red hair. I looked at the strange boy sitting in front of me, he had a huge mischievous smile on his face and I, didn't like it. I turned back around avoiding eye contact with the boy, slowly turning to open the door to go find my boss. "Hi!" I stopped. "Crap." I cursed under my breath and swiftly spun around to face the boy again. "There's no way to avoid you, is there?" I waited. No response. I knitted my eyebrows and took a few steps closer to the boy. "Hey! Kid!" The boy looked about two years younger than me, and was clearly distracted, his eyes glued onto his GameBoy Color. I sat next to him, slowly accepting my fate. My fate being... having to work with this kid, little who I knew I would become best friends with, and fall for.
