Into The Shadows

Chapter: 8

They got a safe distance away, near some sort of shack. James hugged Rose and they started kissing. "It's been along time, Rose," James said.

"Yeah it has."

"I've missed you."

"Same."

"What did he do to you?"

"He never got the chance to do anything. I already told you that."

"But You aren't telling me everything. Why did he want you."

"OK. Fine. It all started when my father was working in a cave, he was a miner. He came across some sort of monster that could shape shift from human to whatever it is. It escaped the ice and rock it was trapped in, but the funny thing is it eats souls. It went after my dad, but the monster was trapped by rocks that crushed my dad and blocked his path. His people have forgotten the ability to suck souls so he needs a machine. And since my dad was the one who trapped him, the monster went to his closest known relative, me."

James nodded the entire story to say he understood, even though he only got a bit of the story. "Now what?" James asked as if on cue because the shack beside them started rumbling. Then it started shaking and then it shot up smoke. James and Rose went toward it, only to hear a loud snap.

"What was that," James asked

"I don't know," Rose answered with a little fear in her voice.

They walked toward the steaming shack. And knocked on the door. The door opened and an old man walked out and said, "hello. What may I do for you?" "Ummm. Well. What are you doing?"James answered. 

"Come in and you can see."

"OK."

They walked in and James' mouth opened in an "O" shape and his arms spread out a little, out of surprise.
