Year 2071Fenrir Far East Branch, Western Gate
"Let me in...." a man struggles to get past the guards and into the Outer Ghetto.
"What the hell are you doing?!" says the guard, pushing him back, "Stand back or I'll shoot!" another one adds.
"I have to kill it.... Become a.... God Eater....."
"Huh? You want to be a God Eater? Then take the test like the rest of them!"
A tall figure approaches them, "What's going on here?"
"D-Director Schicksal?!" The guard immediately salutes.
"At ease, captain.... Now tell me, what's the meaning of this?"
"This one's trying to get past without the test"
"Oh?" the Director approaches him and looks at him from head to toe, body covered in scars and tattered clothing. "Test him" the Director lifts his face up and looks him in the eyes, he couldn't see his reflection from the dead, dull, eyes.
"You'd make an excellent candidate" he smirks.
A year later
The same man sits on the edge of the roof of a dilapidated office building, gazing at the sunset while deep in thought.
"Jay! The chopper's here!" He jumps off the building and lands in the ground, leaving a mark.
"Are you done sightseeing?"
This is my senior, Brendan Bardell, when I first arrived here; I was assigned to the Defense Unit, along with Tatsumi, Gina, Shun, Karel, and Kanon... They taught me how to fight the Aragami, and old man Gen, always kept me grounded, although sometimes his lectures are a pain to listen to.
"I wasn't sightseeing; I was looking out for the Aragami"
"Hibari said there's only six Kongou"
"Well Hibari doesn't dictate when an Aragami can show up"
"[Tatsumi, on the radio] Hey take that back rook! Don't be talking down to my sweet Hibari!"
"Are you seriously calling her that?"
"[Hibari, on the radio] Umm... Can we leave the conversations till we get back to base? Oh and Jay... Licca said to stop by her lab to have your God Arc checked"
"Copy that... and sorry"
Brendan and Jay board the chopper, picking up Tatsumi along the way.
"Don't talk about Hibari like that, rook"
"Can you stop talking down to me? I'm not a rookie anymore, don't you forget who saved you guys when you bit off more than you could chew"
"H-hey that's harsh, Jay.....that was Shun's idea!"
"Quit fighting already, the wall's in view already," says Brendan, breaking off the argument.
Far-East Branch, God Arc Storage Area: East Side
Licca is standing at the Den Gate, she welcomes the returning God Eaters. "Jay, how's the God Arc?"
"Well... It still feels... Unbalanced somehow"
"Hmm... I did make adjustments already..... I don't really understand what these new Adaptive God Arcs are supposed to be... HQ says 'They adapt to the user's preferences' but even then it's still just a prototype, I'm not sure we should be using it for combat yet""Then... I leave this to you" Jay returns his God Arc to the storage area and heads back to the den. He returns to his room and lies down for a bit, eventually drifting to sleep.
