All of Stan's friends stare at me as I descend the steps from the school's main building. I consider pretending that everything isn't alright to mess with them, but the way Marty, Sharon and Steph look at me, I can tell they're in no mood for games.
Stan gets to his feet and nods to the rest of them. "Well, we attended this shit hole for a few weeks. Guess it's time to go in, tell the principal to fuck himself, and head back to Queens."
Gene shakes his head with a smile, Ace is too busy kissing Marty's neck to notice anything. Peter is in his own world, as always.
"What are you talking about?" I cock my head and remove my keys from my purse. "Why would you do that?"
Stan glares at me. "Don't be cute. Now that Daddy's gotten you off the hook, you've got nothing to worry about."
He brushes past me roughly on his way up the steps, Gene groans and reluctantly begins to follow, staring at the sky. "Sorry Ma, I know I told you I was gonna be a good boy."
"Stan, wait! I got us all off the hook. What, did you think I was that self centered? We're all dissmised to class."
Stan whirls around. Marty shoves Ace's face away from her skin, Peter snaps out of his own world.
"What?"
"Yeah, we're all fine. Not even a slap on the wrist."
Stan crosses his arms in skepticism. "How?"
I shrug and look away sheepishly. "My dad made a phone call."
Sharon wraps her arms around Marty and Steph, turning to walk toward the science hall. "Well, make sure to tell him thanks for us, and that Marty will suck his dick any time he needs it. You know, as a thank you?"
I make a face and they cackle like hyenas, walking off down the path.
Stan says nothing as Gene, Ace and Peter gallop from the steps after the girls, whooping like the animals they are.
I look up at Stan quietly, waiting for it. He's going to tell me he didn't need my help, that he doesn't need anyone's help, especially not from a rich girl's daddy. Instead he uncrosses his arms and comes down the stairs slowly, approching carefully.
"I guess I'll see you in history..." I clear my throat and turn.
"Hey." He says shortly. "I'm not gonna thank you, so don't expect me to."
"I didn't think you would." I start down the sidewalk.
"Meet me after school today, Central Park."
I stop, refusing to face him. "What for?"
"Tutoring. What, did you think you were getting out of it now?"
I continue down the path with unexplainable butterflies going nuts in my stomach. What I'm nervous for, I have no clue.

I decided to briefly stop at home before meeting Stan, to make sure I had all of my materials. When I get there, Jon is in the kitchen with my mother. I roll my eyes dramatically when I see that she is laughing and fawning over him, knowing that she only ever disapproves of me.
"Hey guys." I walk into the kitchen. Jon offers me a smile and a kiss on the cheek.
Mother only frowns slightly and tells me that my skirt is slightly off-center.
I fix it and grab a piece of fruit from the bowl in the center of the island. I can see Jon has set up his study materials, my stomach turns uncomfortably.
