Chapter 1
The splattering sound of the rain awoke me from a deep slumber. It couldn't have been a better time to wake me up while Channing Tatum confessed his absolute love for me. Ugh. Lousily getting up from my bed, I tucked a strand of my long dark brown hair behind my ear. My 5ft.6 inch body made it's way to the toilet where I brushed my teeth till I was satisfied,
Looking into the mirror, I saw a girl whose deep brown eyes had an intense look saying all the things her pink lips never dared upon speaking. Her long dark brown hair emitted a curtain around her, covering her from unwanted glances. In front of me stood a quiet but quirky girl who worked hard to get what she had and respected the things she had earnt. This girl was me. Gabriella Brown.
Living with my mum and my dad who, after twenty years of marriage, were still hopelessly in love taught me that whether you believe it or not, love can be lurking at any corner of life. However all my fantasies of prince charming had come crashing down when for the first time I saw my brother bring in a girl just so he could use her. At that time I was only fourteen so me being my naive self, I had thought my brother had betrayed me by not staying true to one girl. Though, since four years all my anger at my brother Jake has gone. Now us both being eighteen, Jake rules the corridors of Crimson high while I stand in the background. I don't mind though as two doting best friends are all I could ever ask for.
" Gabriella dear, would you come down now", my mother shrieks so I can hear. Well dear mother, that wasn't necessary, I was coming down. My feet rhythmically bounced until I reached the bottom of the stairs where I quickly ran to my seat at the dining table. You see food and me have this really strong connection. We just cant stay away from each other. No wonder Lizzie, my best friend has already planned to be a bridesmaid at our wedding.
"Mum, why'd you shout when you knew Gabby would come as soon as she smelt these sexy waffles I made!" My brother wiggled his eyebrows at me as I sent a scorching scowl towards him. You see, my brother was still in his his immature, cocky faze which grew day by day seeing the fact that he was the golden boy of Crimson High.
"Save it big bro. I dont want to lose my appetite" As I started munching on my first bit of heavenly chocolate waffles, the annoying bring of the doorbell brought me out of my trance. Ugh. Stupid bell.
"jake dear, answer the door will you" mum shouted from across the hallway.
"Sure."
"I meant NOW"
"What?"
"Go answer the door Jake." Mum sighed.
"Fine," I felt a smile tug at the corners of my mouth as Jake answered the door. Sometimes when he got annoyed, I felt like I had finally gotten my revenge back of him teasing me for years. The guy deserved it. I know he was my brother and all but ten years before he never let me watch T.V or play video games with him. Jerk.
Nearly finishing this lovely piece of goodness called waffles, I heard Jake and a lady in a black suit enter my kitchen. Wait, what! A lady in a black suit. I repeat, a stranger is in my house! Ahhh!
Okay, maybe not but that lady did not make me feel comfotable. She had straight black hair that reached her shoulders like a second skin and she had black vacant eyes that lacked life. In her hand, she was holding a black bag which resembled the one they show in movies. You know, when the bad guy is handing over 'money' to the good guy when actually there is a bomb planted in the suitcase.
Except this time things seemed a little more complicated.
"Who is this" My mums voice broke me out of a deep trance, ending with me averting eyes with the black suit lady.
