Beverly wipes the tears in her eyes as she walks out of the funeral never had she thought Nana would die so soon , despite Nana's age she was so full of life, before the ailment that took her suddenly.
Beverly had to pick the black dress she was wearing now as a last respect to Nana , for Nana had gifted her the dress, they had both constantly argued about the dress , Beverly always pointed out to Nana that the dress was outdated, but Nana who kept recalling she got it from her grandmother as a good luck gift.
Beverly smiles and wipes away a fresh new tear dropping down her lovely cheek.
Father Mathew stood ahead of her, standing by Beverly's little sister Lolo. Lolo runs to hug Beverly crying.
" It's okay, we are going to be fine I promise You"
Looking into Lolo's teary chubby face.
"Beverly, My dear your grandmother wanted you to have this"
He hands her several letters, some new and some very old.
" Can I please leave Lolo with you for a couple of hours, I have to go to work"
As she places the letters in her black bag. She hugs her sister and gave Father Matthew kiss on the cheek. Puts on her sunglasses to conceal her swollen eyes.
At age nineteen Beverly was very hardworking , she never let the compliment of her beauty get to her, the responsibilities of little sister and her grandmother who just passed away fell on her young shoulders. She never went out on dates, her social life was next to zero. Her best friend was Lolo, sounds crazy but yes there was nothing You simply can't tell that nine year old.
She soon approached the Care Centre. Went through the staffs gate, signed in and was told after changing into her uniform, that she needed to see the Director urgently.
She stood at the doorway to the Director's office , there also stood a six foot huge man, wearing a ray ban glasses. She observed he stood still like a soldier or a bodyguard.
" I'm I safe?" She smiles childishly at him.
" Sure." He replies with a deep voice.
The door opens the Director comes out with two men, shaking hands with Alex and Drake.
" Mr Green, I'll review the documents as soon as possible "
The Director frowns as he sees Beverly
" And You, in my office now!"
Everyone turns to look at Beverly. Alex and his men turns back and exits the building.
Minutes later Beverly was seated at the park , she just can't believe she had just been fired without a paycheck and for Nana to have said this black dress brings good luck? That must be the century's joke. But she was lucky today to have seen the Greens. She smiled at her self.
That's a inch of luck. With all the maids in the world at their beck and call , why a carer? Only the ones in the Director's good book would be offered a well paid job like that of the one the Greens has to offer.
