I woke up staring at my ceiling. My body was stiff from sleeping on the hard floor. I slowly sat up and realized Christina and Alex were awake. All of a sudden, I remembered everything from last night. I rubbed my temples.

"You okay?" Christina asked. Christina is the oldest, and she acts like our mom sometimes. None of us have really good families, so it's kind of nice having her to look out for us. I mean, my parents aren't bad like Alex's or Lacies, but they just don't care about me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Lets go make some breakfast." I got up and started walking to the door. We made out way down to my kitchen. Christina rummaged around in the cabinets and I opened the refrigerator.

"Chocolate chip pancakes okay with you guys?" Christina asked, setting a pan on the stove and holding up a bottle of pancake mix. We nodded.

"Hey." Elle and Lacie had come downstairs.

I poured myself a glass of milk and hopped up onto one of the breakfast bar stools.  myself a glass. Alex was across the kitchen. She flicked open my parents liquor cabinet, and grabbed a bottle of vodka, pouring a splash into her glass and setting the bottle on the counter before filling the rest of the glass with orange juice.

"Hey, pass me some of that!" Lacie said. Alex passed her the bottle and I saw Elle shooting them a disapproving look. This was how they always were.

"Aw, shut it, Elle." Alex frowned. "And turn on the TV." Elle rolled her eyes and turned on the television set on the kitchen counter. I grabbed my glass and leaned over the counter, looking at the screen. Christina changed the channel to the news and we stood in a little group, watching the screen.

The reporter was talking about the dead girl, just like I knew they would be. We stood in silence, watching the reporter talk. There was a dead fifteen-year-old with a bullet wound and they had no idea who had done it.

The reporter was talking about how they "suspected it was a teenager or young adult from the East Side." Well, of course they did. We were bad kids; criminals in their minds. I let out a sigh. Something told me that this wouldn't be an easy next couple of days.

"What are we doing tonight?" Lacie asked. "I want to see some of our friends. In case they know anything about what happened." I understood what she meant. We were all shaken up, and we wanted to talk about it.

"Jack was going to have a party tonight over at his place. His parents are out." Elle spoke up. "I don't know if he's still having it, after what happened."

"Let's just assume he is." Alex said. "I want to go out tonight."

"Don't you have to work tonight?" I asked. Christina and Alex usually worked the five to eight shift at our towns one crappy CVS on Sunday nights.

Christina frowned and shot Alex a look. "Well, I do. Someone got caught trying to pocket some eyeliner and got fired."

"Let it go already. I swear to god, you act like my mother sometimes." Alex grumbled.

"Someone has to, or else you and Lacie would be in jail right now." Christina muttered.

"Hey, leave me out of this!" Lacie said. "We'll meet you at eight after your shift and then we'll go over to Jacks."

"Okay." We all agreed. At eight o'clock, we were all waiting around the back of the CVS store.
