Christen sat cross legged on her bed, staring at the wall as thoughts raced through her head. Her eyes grew heavy as they started to gloss over.
Crying again? Why can't you just be happy?
Her tears threatened to spill over when the door opened. She looked down, rapidly blinking her eyes to hide the tears.
"Hey Chris, ready to go down for dinner," her roommate called into the room.
"Yeah, just a minute Jules," Christen replied trying to wipe her face. Julie rounded the corner and immediately noticed Christen's emotional state.
"Hey, what's wrong?" She walked over to sit on the edge of her bed.
Christen shook her head. "Nothing. I'm fine," she said, although her glossy eyes gave her away. "It's nothing, really."
"You can always talk to me. Or the team," Julie said gently, "I just want you to know that."
Christen smiled at Julie's caring nature. She nodded, not wanting to worry Julie more. "Thanks. We should go before we're late," she responded, even though all she wanted to do was curl up and stay in bed. But Julie was here and the team would notice if she didn't come down. Christen moved to stand, Julie following suit.
"I heard movie night is going to be in Allie and Alex's room tonight. Are you going," Julie asked as they entered the hallway. Christen hesitated. She really didn't want to but how could she say no? Before she could answer, they spotted Tobin waiting in front of the elevator doors.
"Hey, you guys going down to dinner," Tobin asked, holding the door open for them.
"Yeah, I think we're the last ones," Julie said. Just as the doors were about to close, Tobin gasped.
"Oh my gosh, I forgot to wake up Moe! I can't believe I forgot," she said, smacking her head. She sighed, "You guys go ahead. I gotta go get her."
"I'll go. I can get her," Christen said quickly. Anything to delay getting to the ballroom. Tobin shot a quick glance to Julie. It wasn't unusual for Christen to offer help, but recently it seemed like she was always finding excuses to leave instead of stay out with the team.
"Sure, thanks," Tobin said, failing to hide her suspicion. She handed her key to Christen.
"Thanks. We'll meet you down there," Christen said, already turning back to the hallway. Once she turned the corner, she closed her eyes and sighed aloud. Why are you so closed off? They're your friends.
She forced her thoughts away and continued to Tobin and Morgan's room. Using the key Tobin gave her, she opened the door and made her way to Morgan's bed.
"Moe, time to wake up," she said, gently shaking Morgan's shoulder. She groaned in response, choosing to wrap the blanket tighter around herself.
"No, wanna sleep," she mumbled. Christen chuckled softly.
"We gotta go to dinner."
"Mm, carry me?"
This made Christen laugh aloud. "No way. I can't carry you all the way downstairs." Morgan couldn't help but laugh with her.
"Why not? You'd only have to carry me to the elevator," she smiled, already getting up. "Did Tobin send you to wake me up?"
