Luis is very upset with Evy and is trying to get away from her in order to cool off.
"Look, I'm sorry," she says as she races to catch up to him.
"Forget it," Luis says as he quickly puts his shirt, shorts and shoes on.
Evy steps in front of him and says, "I didn't mean what I said. I'm dirty, cold and hungry and I..."
"Evy, I think I need a break from you right now."
She stops and stares at him as her eyes inexplicably begin to well up with tears.
Luis sighs and says, "Why don't you just go back there and wash up while I try to find something for us to eat."
She doesn't move. He notices the tears in her eyes.
He hands her a handkerchief from his pocket and says, "I know you don't like me but we have to find a way to get along until we get rescued, okay? After that, you won't have to worry about seeing me ever again."
Evy looks away. For some unexplained reason, the thought of not seeing Luis again upsets her but she says nothing and just turns and walks back to the waterfall to wash herself off.
Later, she finds Luis sitting on a large rock, drinking coconut juice out of a shell. He hands her a banana and says, "Eat before you pass out."
"Has anyone ever told you that you're bossy?"
Luis rolls his eyes at Evy and says, "So are you," as she peels the banana and sits down next to him. They sit quietly and listen to waves crashing on the beach and the birds singing in the trees.
When Luis hands Evy a shell filled with coconut milk, she says, "Thanks...for everything. I don't know what I would do if you weren't here with me. I guess I shouldn't have skipped the class on Survival 101 while I was in school." Luis smirks.
Encouraged by his response, Evy asks, "So what made you want to come here?"
He stops and thinks a minute before saying, "I grew up in a big city. I hated the noise and the crowds. My uncle was a pilot. When I was young, he took me up in his plane. I was hooked. As soon as I got my license, he told me about this job and I took it."
She shakes her head and says, "I can't imagine you meet many people our age out here. Doesn't it get kind of lonely?
"No, not really. There are a group of pilots I like to go into town with on the weekends. We drink, dance and flirt with the local girls."
Evy frowns at the thought of him flirting with the local girls.
She asks, "Do you have a girlfriend?"
"I did but we broke up just before I took this job."
"I can't imagine why." He laughs and nearly spits out the coconut juice in his mouth.
Evy says, "I'm so sorry. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic."
"Maybe it just comes naturally to you," he says.
She shrugs her shoulders. "If you had to deal with the kind of guys I come across in Hollywood, I think you'd understand why act the way I do."
"A pretty girl like you probably gets asked out a lot."
"And you know what my answer usually is? 'No, no, and HELL NO!'" They both laugh.
Luis says, "I can just imagine what category you would put me into if I ever asked you out."
Evy blushes slightly and looks down at her feet. "I don't know, I think you might be surprised."
He looks genuinely shocked and stares at her a minute before saying, "You've yelled at me, criticized me, told me you hate me, and even said that my...my...stuff was retractable..."
"I said I was sorry. Besides, you said you hated me too."
"Fair enough."
After a moment of awkward silence, Evy says, "I can tell that you're not like other boys who've tried to ask me out. When they'd ask, the first thing I'd think of is why and then what are they thinking they'll get out of being seen with me."
"I'm sorry to hear that," he says. "Not all of us are like that you know."
Evy says, "I don't think you're like them at all."
Luis nods and says, "Glad to hear it. Let's walk.
They walk in silence until they reach the shore. Standing in the middle of a sandy beach, Luis looks up at the sky and says, "They should be sending people out to look for us soon if they're not out already." He picks up two sticks and says, "If we get a fire going, they might find us sooner."
On impulse, she moves closer and grabs hold of his arms and says, "Would you mind if we held off on doing that?"
They stare at each other a moment before he drops the sticks and pulls her into his arms. She closes her eyes as his lips touch hers. A moment later, he kisses her forehead and then whispers in her ear, "Would you like to go somewhere a little less exposed."
Evy nods as Luis picks her up and carries her off the beach.
Sometime later, Luis and Evy hear the sound of planes flying overhead and race to the shoreline. He holds her hand tightly on the flight back but are pulled apart as soon as the plane touches down on the tarmac. Many reporters and photographers gather around the plane as Evy disembarks. Her agent rushes toward her as cameras flash and reporters pepper her with questions. She looks for Luis but he is nowhere to be seen.
In the middle of all the chaos, she suddenly hears a loud ringing in her ears. She covers them with her hands while being shoved into a car but the ringing won't stop. She closes her eyes and then...finds herself sitting upright in bed in her hotel room.
She looks over at the nightstand beside her bed and realizes that the ringing in her ears was the alarm clock beside her bed.
"Oh my God, it was just a dream," she says to herself and then sadly, "He was just a dream." Minutes later, she gets a text from her agent saying, "Meet at lobby 9 am sharp."
Evy quickly gets dressed and goes to the lobby. Her agent walks up to her and says, "So are you ready to do some sightseeing?"
Her feels her heart begin to flutter as she says, "Does this sightseeing trip happen to involve any flying?"
Her agent gives her a funny look. "I told you that yesterday. We'd better get going or you're going to be late."
As they drive up to the airstrip, her heart sinks when she is told that the pilot of her flight is Gary, the most senior pilot in the company. She steps out of the car and glances at the floatplanes docked in the harbor while her agent checks her in.
While waiting, she hears Bailando blaring from inside one of the nearby floatplanes. She races toward that plane and sees a young man sitting in the cockpit doing a preflight instrument check. He looks over at her and smiles. Her heart stops. He steps out of the cockpit and extends his hand to her and says, "Are you Evy?"
She nods her head as she offers him her hand. She asks, "So, will you be taking me sightseeing today?"
"Yes," he says. "I was off today but got called in when Gary called in sick. Don't worry though, I can assure you that you will be in good hands while we're up there."
She smiles and says, "And you are..."
"I am sorry. My name is Luis."
"I can't tell you how happy I am to see you."
Luis smiles. "Well, I hope you still feel that way after the trip...So Evy, are you ready for an adventure?"
"With you, absolutely."
