Ten.

I hear them, chasing me, hunting me. I have to get there, as my very life depends on it.

Nine.

Howling. They brought the wolves out, it may be a matter of seconds before they find me. I must get there before them, before Him, The Traitor.

Eight.

I hear Him, His breath running down my spine. How could he...?

Seven.

No, wait. I can't wait. I can't get pulled down by my thoughts, they can't get me. They can't get the information I know. I'd rather die than let them enter my mind.

Six.

Damn, I should've known I'd stumble, it's so dark. Of course it's dark, it's midnight. He has my wrist. It's all over...

Five.

No. Not today, it's not. I kick Him in the groin and bite the pinky finger of the hand by my mouth. I gag as I bite through bone, the finger falling into my mouth. He howls in pain as I spit it out, running again.

Four.

I see it, the strange mixture of colors swirling within the portal. I can do it, I'm almost there

Three.

I scream in pain as a dagger is lodged in my right leg, slicing into my thigh. I stumble again, but grit my teeth in determination. Just a few more feet...

Two.

I hear an enraged cry from behind me as He realizes He's too late. I pause, wondering if I should really risk my life and sanity to enter this portal.

One.

They're gaining, I have to decide. I take a deep breath, and plunge through the mysterious and hypnotic colors.

At that moment, my world was gone.
