{Lyra's POV}

"Stand up straight," my father's cold voice drawled. To me his voice always seemed to flow out like a river. Though, his words were sharp as ice. Some people would say it could prickle your skin. No matter how his voice sounded, he was still an awful person.

See, today we were going to Diagon Alley for our Hogwarts equipment. By we I mean me, my mom, my dad, and my twin, Draco. My mom wasn't that bad. I knew that she was actually forced to marry my dad which was a horrible predicament for her. My dad on the other hand, was a very loyal death eater. He believed that muggleborns and muggles were vile creatures that should serve wizards. Draco... well, there is still faith for him. He wants to impress Dad but he needs to realize that won't happen.

As I was saying we were going to Diagon Alley for Hogwarts. "You first Lyra," my father spoke. I grabbed a pinch of floor powder, stepped into the fireplace, and yelled, "DIAGON ALLEY!" I felt myself transporting to Diagon Alley. Stepping out of the fireplace I looked around. I always loved Diagon Alley for all the shops and creativity flowing.

"Alright children, you have your galleons, go buy your stuff. We will all meet back here since your father and I have some business to take care of," my mother glanced at my father while saying this. "Yes mum," Draco and I said in unison. Our parents then apparated to who knows where. Draco began walking away from me so I was on my own.

I walked to Madam Malkin's shop first. "Hogwarts dear?" She said in her sweet voice. "Yes ma'am," I replied. She quickly got me fitted up in my robes and I left to get the rest of my stuff.

I got to Eeylops Owl Emporium to look for an owl that would help me throughout this school year. I was starting to give up when my eyes landed on this beautiful white owl with piercing black eyes. I smiled as I payed for the owl. She was to be called Athena after the Greek Goddess.

The thing I saved for last was of course my wand. "Hello?" I said uncertainly through the room. I heard some rustling and soon emerged an old crazy looking guy. "Ahhh, I was expecting to see you soon Ms. Malfoy. I will find you a wand shortly." His voice was like scruffy almost as if he constantly needed to clear his throat. "Here we go, 12 inches, unicorn hair, oak, quite flexible." I grabbed the wand and waved it expecting something amazing. The light bulb shattered. He gave me multiple wands that didn't work. " Here, try this one." As soon as I took it I felt a warm feeling shoot across my body. Red and green sparks twinkled out the end as I waved it. "That I s a strong wand you got there. I expect great things from you Ms. Malfoy, great things."

After paying for my wand I walked to where I was supposed to wait for my family. They soon came and we went home. I fell asleep thinking about Mr. Ollivander's words.
