Celeste's POV
I walked out of the room where I left Javier and closed the door behind me. I leaned against it for a minute and sucked in a breath. I couldn't believe that just happened. One day he barely knew I existed, the next he was trying to kiss me. I tried not to get my hopes up. He was stoned and a little drunk when he decided he wanted me, but still. I searched for Ximena or Manuel or someone I knew but all I was seeing was north siders. While I was looking around I bumped, literally bumped into Monica and her redhaired friend. I made a face when I saw her.
"Aw fuck." I cursed.
"Well, if it isn't little miss thrift store." She sneered.
Her friend laughed at her comment.
"I don't got time for your bullshit, daddy's money. You seen Manuel or Ximena?" I asked her.
"Your grubby friends? No." She scoffed.
"Thanks, you're a real help." I said sarcastically.
"So I hear you're selling now. I knew it was only a matter of time." She said haughtily.
"It's so sad, it's like you poor people always eventually resort to crime." Her friend sighed with empathy as fake as her nose.
"Hey, you north siders can't get enough of it. I'm just meeting public demands. All of your addictions are my benefits. What do you guys want? You're probably into some expensive shit like pills since daddy gives you so much money to blow." I taunted them.
"I don't do drugs. I don't even drink that much, just my wine coolers." She smiled.
"It's true." Her friend added.
"No wonder you've got a stick up your ass." I rolled my eyes, "Anyway, horrible talking to you, I'm gonna find my friends."
I walked away and looked out the door to the back porch. I found Ximena, Manuel, and a couple other people sitting out there. I didn't recognize the other people. They looked familiar so I assumed they were south siders. It was a white girl, a black girl, and a black guy. I went out to join them.
"God, there you guys are." I sighed, sitting down next to Manuel.
"Where you been?" Manuel asked.
"I was selling to some people and then the weirdest thing happened. Javier Valles, the track guy, couldn't take his eyes off of me. I gave him some weed and went back to a room with him and he smoked it. We talked for like 45 minutes." I answered.
"Damn, Celeste. Maybe he could be your sugar daddy. When you start getting paid don't forget your homies from back home." Ximena joked.
"Javier Valles, huh? Don't get your hopes up, he might just be after what you're selling." Manuel warned me.
"Where's Rigo?" I inquired.
"Oh, shit, we sent him to look for you. Let me text him." Manuel typed a short text to Rigo and sent it.
"Tell him to bring me a drink, something strong." I told him.
"I got you." Manuel nodded.
"And bring me a snack." Ximena slurred.
"I'm not telling him to bring you a snack." Manuel laughed.
Moments later Rigo came back with a red solo cup.
"What'd you bring me?" I asked.
He handed me the cup, "You said strong so like half of it's vodka. The other half is sprite."
