Turning the pages at an 
inhuman speed

Thank you for filling my mind
with wonder and
Scaring back the dark
when I thought no one else could

Thank you for the nights you woke me
from a dream i didn't want to have

Turning my nightmares into
simple things

Thank you for the nights spent in my bed
warming my side like a fireplace
Built on friendship and burning with 
our love

Thank you for holding my hand
as I was wheeled into countless surgeries
And for holding my hand each time 
I woke up

Thank you for showing me the sunsets
the red and orange and gold melded 
Together to make a painting far more beautiful
in life than in a picture

Thank you for the smiles
the laughs and the tears
the miles and the memories
the speeches and the books

Thank you for the wisdom
for the heart you gave me
Instilling in me a sense
of you

Thank you for the hours 
the minutes
the days
the months
that I had you

Thank you for being my rock
for keeping me sane
For sticking by me even through
the hurricanes

Thank you for loving me
deeper and wider than the largest ocean
higher and broader than the biggest sky

fiercer and stronger than the hottest flame

or just two simple words said everyday
