The longing for the sort petals on his face
to brush over yours.
The burning in the pit in your stomach when you know he is ignoring you.
When you know you are the thorn in his paw, the blister in the side of his left toe, the splinter in his calloused heart that stops him from caring.
Being the noise that he has to hear but desperately wants to shut out
The pain that festers in the deep abyss of your soul when you realize he no longer loves you
When you love the unlovable and you become the undesirable all because you try
You try and believe that the four letter word itself was created for you to show him
Him whose body like bronze, sculpted like a Grecian piece of marble that you devalued and bared your own flesh so that he could feel powerful
But he loves
Or at least that's what he says when you are begging on your knees and singing praises unto him and the masterpiece he presents you
But you love him
With the strength in your heart that pushes you towards him even though he has already pushed you away into the past of forgotten memories
The rose bush that grows in your heart
Every evil thorn piercing the fragile
Crimson
Broken
Ragged thing you call a heart
Every breath you take without him
Puncturing you more and more until your heart is like swiss cheese
Holey and unwanted
But that's what heartbreak is
When you reach for the love that is nowhere to be found
When you try to walk only to end up crawling in agony
When you cry your heart out but no one hears
Or cares
Heartbreak is when you put yourself in my shoes
And you cross the desert that is love
When you put your heart in a bowl that says 'take some'
And everyone pokes and probes until it is rock hard and can no longer feel
The definition of heartbreak is me
