"By the way", Mario said," I made plans with Julian to hang out at my place at 6:30."

"And?", I asked.

"Do you wanna come over?"

"Sure, I will gladly grace you with my presents.", I said. Mario rolled his green eyes. He looked down at his phone and his wavy hair covered his eyes.

"Have you always been that tan?", I asked.

"Yeah," Mario looked up in confusion, "Why?"

"I just noticed.", I said.

"Boi.", Mario looked back down at his phone.

"Oh, by the way what time are you guys hanging out?"

"6:30.", Mario looked at the clock. "It's only 5 right now."

"Yes", I fist pumped. "Wanna go to the beach."

"Sure, why not.", Mario said. "We have to go back to my house to get my typewriter though."

"You left it in here", I responded. "Do you have a bathing suit?"

"Obviously, when do I not have a bathing suit.", Mario laughed, "I'm so disappointed in you I thought you already knew this."

"Um, I did, for your information... I was just... making sure you had it this time.", I said.

"Whatever you say, Shawn." The rest of the car ride was silent. I can't talk after deals very well. Life is stressful, and it's really stressful after deals. We both need an hour to unwind after deals. We unwind differently. Mario usually writes and I surf. It's what we both need after a long day at school and a deal. We pulled up to the beach. The sky was grey, like it was about to rain. The seagull's cries filled my ears. I could taste the salt from inside the car. The sound of the waves crashing over the sand made me fill with joy. The waves seemed pretty big. I pushed my way out of the car, and ran to the back to get my surfboard. I took off both my shirt and pants, revealing my bathing suit. My trunk popped open and I grabbed it as fast as I could. I ran my fingers across the blue and black pattern. There were bumps in the wood, from being used so many times. I looked over to see Mario, grabbing his typewriter out of the back. He rubbed his fingered against the old, chipped black paint on the back of the typewriter. I realized we were both thinking the same thing. He put his typewriter on top of the car, he stripped down to his bathing suit as well.

"I bet I could beat you to that towel.", Mario screamed, breaking me away from my thoughts.

"I think not", I screamed back. I sprinted to the towel, with Mario inches in front of me.

"Ha, I win.", Mario screamed.

"Well, I got hit by a car yesterday, so my leg is technically broken.", I said. We both laughed.

"Whatever you say. I won fair-"

"No you didn't. I think you're blind.", I cut Mario off.

"I think that you're living in your imagination.", Mario said.

"My imagination is a great place, so I'm not complaining.", I responded.

"Ha, ha.", Mario said as he sat down.

"Hey don't be sarcastic with me.", I pointed at him.

"I'm not being sarcastic. Do you see how hard I'm laughing.", Mario said, his face as straight as ever.

"Whatever. I'm gonna go catch some waves.", I said.

"Well, have fun dear.", Mario said, imitating my mom. I let out a chuckle as I ran out, and stepped into the cold ocean water. I felt at home immediately. I pushed my board out into the water. The rippling affect happened almost immediately. I jumped on the board, laying on my belly, and paddled to where the best waves were. A wave pushed up out of the water, and I stood up on board. I rode it and it began to cave in. I touched the wave's water, just like how they did in the movies. I felt alive for the first time all day. Maybe I should start my mornings like this, I thought. The wave finally caved in, sending me underwater. I opened my eyes, seeing the coral reefs around me. I could see schools of fish rushing away and starfish clinging to rocks, as I bobbed my head up.
