"Okay, it should be illegal for men to be able to cook," I joked to Josh over my empty plate that at one point held a delicious lobster salad. He just laughed and ate the last bit of his plate.

"So, you ready for the first day of school tomorrow?"

I adverted my gaze from my empty plate to his questioning blue eyes. I laughed at him. I must've sounded like a lunatic 'cuz he stared at me, still serious. I stopped and said,

"No. I am not ready for school."

He shook his head slightly at me and said in reply,

"It's not as bad as it seems. It's an amazing school system with really nice kids."

I rolled my eyes. 'Suuuurrreee' I thought and went back to stabbing my empty plate. Josh stood up, grabbed his plate and silverware, and went over to the dishwasher to put them in.

"Just leave your plate and stuff in here when your done."

I nodded and he sat back down.

"Now, living with me doesn't come without some rules," he started. "There are only a couple rules. I'm not a very strict guy, but if you break them, you will pay to fix the damage." I nodded and he continued. "Rule number one. My room, the room behind the big wooden doors, is off limits. Rule number two. You break it, you buy it. Rule three. No messes. You are to clean up everything you do. And number four. No boys unless I am a loud to walk in on you at any time...." I almost laughed at him for the last one. I would never be able to get a guy to do that with me, let alone want to.

"I promise not to break any of these rules, especially the last one." I said to him, rolling my eyes again.

"Good," he said, getting up again. "I'll be in my room."

I got up as well and put my dishes in the dishwasher and looked at the clock. 7:11. I sighed and went up to where I would soon learn to call my room and took a shower. After my shower, I pulled out my bag and started going through it. I pulled out some jeans and an over-sized Georgia Bulldogs sweatshirts to wear tomorrow and looked at the clock next to the bed. Only 7:30. I groaned and lay down on the bed in my old t-shirt and shorts that I called pajamas. It was acceptable to go to bed at 7:30 right? I knew it really wasn't, but I was tired and I needed to wake up early tomorrow so I climbed under the warm covers and drifted to sleep.

"Wake up, Sam. You need to get ready."

I groaned and opened my eyes just enough to recognize the person standing over me. Josh was wearing a suit with a red tie. I looked over at the clock and it read 7:30. I immediately sat up and said,

"Holy crap, Josh! I'm gonna be late!"

He just laughed and said, "School here starts at 8:30, calm down." I relaxed and lay back down. He put down a cup of what I presumed to be coffee and walked out of the room. Over his shoulder, he said,

"Be down in the kitchen by 8:00, okay?"

I groaned and flopped over in response. After about 10 minutes of not wanting to get up, I realized I probably should and stood up. I grabbed my clothes, made sure my door was locked, and changed. I then picked up the cup and sipped the brown liquid in it. I smiled when I realized it was peach tea. My dad had probably told him it was my favorite. I looked over at the clock and sat down on my bed. 7:47. I looked out at the room and my eyes stopped on the mirror. I looked at myself. My hair was everywhere. I got up and grabbed my green brush from my bag. I pulled my hair back into a high pony and looked myself over. My face had this look of boredom written all over it and I noticed an eyelash on my cheek. I brushed it off and, as satisfied with my appearance as I could get, I walked downstairs.

When I was about to walk in the kitchen, I realized something I hasn't thought about before. I didn't have a backpack. I groaned when I realized I would have to have Josh drop me off at some store so I could buy one. I walked in and saw him at the table drawing something. I walked up behind him and saw a beautiful sketch of a dress on the paper.

"Like what you see?" He said laughing.

"It's beautiful," I replied.

"Thanks. It's what I'm paid to do after all."

"What company do you design for?"

"My own."

My mouth formed into an 'o' shape when I realized that was the reason why he was so... Wealthy. He laughed at my realization and closed his sketch book.

"Oh yeah," he started, getting up and going to the room leading out of the kitchen that I had yet to explore. He came back out with a simple camo backpack and threw it at me. "I thought you would need this."

"Thanks," I muttered, opening it up. Inside were brand new school supplies that I would need.

"The school gave me a list. Oh, and I also have an old laptop you could borrow for school," he said, pulling out an MacBook Air from his case and handing it to me. I gaped at it and said,

"Old?!?!"

He laughed and said, "Well, maybe not that old."

"Thank you so much!"

"No problem."

He stood up and looked at the clock 8:14. I asked what time we had to leave to get there.

"8:20"

I nodded and he grabbed some eggs from the stove that I hadn't even realized were there.

"Here. Eat."

"Thanks" I said, eating quickly. When I finished, he grabbed his briefcase and we headed to his car in the garage.
