Chapter 3:

I gasped for breath as I staggered backwards. I hit the wall and slid down till I hit the floor. I couldn’t believe my own eyes. My sister was right! No! She isn’t your brother is not haunting you! You are going crazy, my inner voice said. My sister is not right, I am not going crazy, and my sister is probably playing tricks on me to make me start praying for my dead brother, Jacob.

I sat there for about 10 minutes until I finally got back up and went back over to Mixie to calm her down. She looked pretty surprised at the way I staggered away from her, I felt guilty and went over towards her and started acting as if everything was normal, even though it wasn’t.

When my mom opened my door, startling me, she said that dinner was ready.  I walked downstairs alongside her and sat down at the dining table which was under a crystal chandelier. I felt awkward sitting there, not being able to say anything about my recent events. I can’t open my mouth because I will sound like a liar and an idiot. I wish to say but I cannot until I have evidence, or else no one will believe me. Except my friends, obviously, but I am starting to think now that even they will not…

I had school the next morning so I had to go to bed early, I could tell my friends what happened if I chose to. I would decide in the morning I thought as I slipped underneath my comforter. It was cold today so I was glad of its warmth.

I woke up to my mom’s voice and her slow shaking hands and her whisper of, “Get ready for school honey. Wake up!” I relaxed as I figured out it was only my mom here to cause no damage. "Coming in a second mom!" I whispered into my feather pillow.  "OK. But if your not down there within 5 minutes i am coming back up!" she said as she left towards the hall. i laughed to myself and got out of bed and slumped down the stairs. I was still pretty freaked out about the ring, i shuddered as i thought about it.

I walked down the stairs welcomed by the smell of waffles i sat down in my nromal seat, next to my sister, and stayed silent. But what really tipped me off was the fact that instead of me balabbering on about something, she was blabbering on about something! It seemed to sound as if she was blabbering on about going shopping with mom! What the...? She hated shopping, why was she lovign it all of a sudden, is she trying to copy me? I tensed and looked at her as she blabbered on and on about this shopping trip. That's exactly what I was suppossed to do and she was always the one who should talk me out of it, telling me it is boring as hell, but this time no...this time was different, a bit too different...

I finished my waffles and went upstairs to take  a quick shower and get dressed. I took a warm shower and pulled on a black tank top, black skinny jeans and red and black converse. i put on a bit of eyeliner and some mascara then stepped out of my room then walked out to get my backpack and go to the bus. "Guys! I am going to take you to school this morning!" mom yelled from downstairs. "Why?" I heard my sister whine. Urgh! i thought, why exactly is she trying to be more like me?

My thoughts were so far away i barely realized my sister was wearing my favourite extra-large "ITS BARBIE B*TCHES" shirt! "What the fuck?!" i screamed at her when I noticed her clothing. "What?" she replied trying to sound innocent. "Don't you like my new clothing style?" "Um. Why exactly are you coping me?!" I said still in shock. "I just felt like changing a little and your clothes were the only ones I could find!" she said looking sad. "Girls! Enough!" my mom yelled. I rolled my eyes and stomped of to the car.

What exactly did she mean by "I am only changing my style" i have no idea, but I do not think that she was up to any good. We arrived at the car and that is when I saw the shovel. I noticed that it was the one we used to bury Jacob. Oh no! Oh no! I thought as i stumbled backwards, "Oh no!" i mumbled. I saw the blood and everything went out. As if there was a power out but instead of just a simple little power out, the sun drops and the world cascades into darkness...
