Loud barks filled the air because of the neighborhood dogs; man were they annoying. It's Friday night, why can't they shut up? Don't they know teenagers are tired? School takes a lot out of you. But what could they be making so much noise about. It's so late that no one's walking around for it to be a stranger. Maybe they are all talking. I wish I could understand them. That'd make things so much better. Then even my own dog would actually be quiet. I kept playing on my phone with snap chat filters until I fell asleep.

The next morning I woke up early out of natural habit. As usual the first two sounds I hear are my fan, its surprisingly loud and my dog barking. She's always barking. The barking stopped fast and it made me happy, if only I could fall back asleep. But the barking was replaced by the loud cries of a lady saying, "Let me out! Please let me go!" I was shocked. She sounded like she needed help. I quickly reached for my trusty sidekick, Mr. Bat and my must have, Ms. Phone and followed the continuous yelling. Before I knew it I reached to the back side of my house. The yelling was clear but it stopped and was replaced with a sigh. "Helps on the way lady c'mon continue yelling." I muttered to myself before reaching behind my house.

"God damned humans!" I heard the lady speak for I saw my pet drinking water. I looked in my neighbor's yard but no one was visual. It was honestly half six in the morning, who was even awake? Could I finally be losing it? Suddenly I heard my name called as my pet jumped out of her dog house. "Hi Bitter." I said while swinging my bat. She wagged her tail ever so excitedly and made that dog crying sound. I can't let her go from the chain so I don't know why she's doing this. When I expected her to bark to my surprise I heard, "Anna let me go!" My jaw dropped. I'm sure now that I'm going crazy. I think I should go back to sleep. I turned around and proceeded to walk away when I heard, "Where the heck are you going?! Let me go!"

I turned around slowly as the voice trailed on with its pleading, "Let me go, let me go, just let me go already!" I must be dreaming, yeah that has got to be it. It's all just a dream. "Bitter stop talking. Dogs don't talk."

"Anna just let me go!"

"I'm not allowed too! It's your fault!" I yell back.

"But I wanna run!"

"Yeah I know. You're gonna run away too, that's why you're tied there."

"Anna?"

"Bitter?"

"You... understand me?"

"Well doesn't it seem like it Bitter."

We both stayed silent for a while which made me remember it's time to change her water. I walked over to her and for once in the like eight years we've had her, she sat quietly and let me do what I was supposed to; instead of jumping around like some kid hyped up on candy. I washed the bucket out and refilled it with clean water and put it back exactly where it goes. Bitter sat and still did nothing. There is a first for everything.

Suddenly I heard a yelling in the distance. Someone was calling for Bitter. It didn't make sense since my family knows she's tied and no one else cares? Bitter suddenly yelled back "Yeah!"

"You still tied?"

"Yeah I want them to let me go but Anna says no."

"Stupid humans. I'm actually stuck myself."

"I remember; I feel you Roofus."

I soon came to the realization that she was having a conversation with a dog on the street; who I can also hear for some reason. So I interrupted her. "Which dog are you talking too?"

"I'm talking to Roofus." She states casually.

"Yeah, but who's Roofus?"

"The Rottweiler that is two houses down and across the street."
