Holy shit. I was scared to death. I sat up and ran my hand through my wet, thick, curly hair. Breathe,Carly, BREATHE. I got up and paced the floor a couple times before climbing back into the comfort of my new bed. Think. THINK. Well, obviously, Sharla would have to drive me to school, and....
I had an epiphony. My dad leaves before I go to to school! Yes! Perfect. I fell back on the pillows, looking at the ceiling. I pondered on how much my life had changed in the past two hours. I fell asleep, with a smile on my face, finally happy to be where I was in life.
I woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs, walking downstairs, I looked at the clock. 8:45. School started an hour ago!
"Sharla, school started an hour ago." I looked at her demeaningly.
"I know sweetie. I called school, i told them you were having some family issues, they understood."
"Thanks." I smiled. There was a tall, dark-haired, italian-looking man standing by the island.
"Hi, I'm Marty." He stook his hand out for me to shake, so I shook it. "Sharla told me how incredibly sweet you were. I was just exicted to have you stay with us."
"Thanks. I really appreciate what you guys are doing for me. I couldn't go back to where I was."
Sharla interupted politley. "Carly, we want you here. Oh, and if there is some stuff you want to pick up later on today we can do that, ONLY, if you are comfortable."
"Yeah, I left a note for my dad, he might have taken the day off, but I'm not too sure."
"Did you bring clothes?" Sharla said, examining my choice of pajamas.
"I did, but only a few pairs." I mumbled looking down at the floor.
"Well, Marissa looks just about your size...Why don't you spend the rest of the day settling in, trying on clothes and whatever doesn't fit we'll go shopping for?" I assummed Marissa was their daughter.
"You just described my perfect day." My smile was so big, I swear it could have touched my ears.
"Well, does your perfect day include some breakfast?" Sharla said, handing me a plate full of bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage and breakfast potatoes. I dug in right away. It had been a long time since I had a breakfast so delicious. At my dad's i was subject to eating cereal, twice a day, everyday. It felt nice to have actuall food in my stomach for once. After I was done, I gave Sharla a hug and gave Marty one too. It felt nice to have people care about me.
As soon as I got to my new room, I grabbed my laptop from my bag, plugged it in and turned on some music. The first thing I tried on was a flowy blue top with sequins on the shoulders and a pair of dark, ripped denim jeans. Everything fit perfectly. I loved the way the jeans excentuated my legs and made me look thin. I clicked on the webcam button. I recently bought my laptop this past summer after babysitting non-stop all summer. I babysat almost 5 times every week, so by the time summer was over, I had over a thousand dollars. So I bought my laptop, I was sick of using the school computers to do my work. I clicked the red button to take a picture. I stood against the pink wall with the Eiffel Tower wall sticker on it, to add a pretty effect.
For every outfit, I took a picture. It was so fun trying on clothes. Once I had reached the back of the closet, I found a door on the back wall. Opening it slowly, I turned on the light, opening the room up to a small shoe closet. There was chesnut cubbies lining every wall and a 3 sided mirror in one of the corners. One wall was filled with flats and sandals such as gladiators and flip flops. The next wall was the biggest, filled with heels and some of the cubbies had 2 or 3 pairs of shoes in them. All of them color coded from white to black.
