Evil Motives

Chapter 1

"A lot can happen in one year. Death, funeral, love, and heartbreak. But of all the thing there's only one that hurts the most, secrets. They bind us together and tear us apart. They leave you wondering and heart broken. Did he even really love me? MY own brother?! The sacrifice for...for what? It all started a year ago, the beginning. And possibly the end...hopefully."

Empress is at her locker in school. The lights are dimmed and everyone is gone. She seems to be the only student left at the school. It's late afternoon and the warm sunlight is blazing through the high windows. Empress is gathering her things to go home when she hears footsteps in a far distance coming towards her. A tall black shadowy figure is coming into her view. His face is covered by his black hoodie. Empress sees the person carrying something in their hand. She immediately gets her phone and dials her boyfriend's, Jake's, number.

"Hey baby, your ready? I'm at the basketball court getting ready to come get you." Jake gathers his things and walks towards his car. He stops and looks around himself to see if anyone is following/watching him. Empress slowly start to walk away from her opened locker. She drops the note she was caring from Jake onto the floor. She keeps turning around to see if the shadowy figure is still following her.

"Jake! Help me! Someone is following me. I can't see him and I don't know why but--"

Jake immediately gets into his car and sits down. "I'm on my! Just...ahhh....go towards the lunchroom! Listen Empress! I need you to trust me! DO NOT LEAVE THE BUILDING NO MATTER WHAT!"

Empress starts to run towards the lunchroom. Scarred, she's crying and gripping the phone for deer life. "Jake please tell me why you are making me go to the lunchroom! There's no place to hide in there!"

"Please baby I just need you to trust me. Do not leave the lunchroom. No matter what! Do not answer any questions. Stay calm, I will be there soon. Stay quiet. Trust me it will be all over soon. I promise. I love you." Jake hangs up before Empress could respond. He puts the keys into the ignition and immediately pulls out of the parking lot. He speeds towards the school trying not think that this might be his final goodbye. He starts muttering to himself and thinks. "No. It can't be. How did they find me?" He pulls out his phone and text his sister, Violet.

"THEY'RE HERE! THEY HAVE EMPRESS! GET CORDE OUT OF HERE! IT'S TOO LATE TO SAVE EMPRESS."

Violet is in the basement of the church when she receives Jake's text, "I know." was her only response. Jake, out of anger throws his phone onto the seat next to him and hits his wheel. "SHIT!"
