I wake up, and Fred is carrying me, my head is resting on his shoulder. I keep my eyes closed; I'm still tired, and being this close to Fred makes me feel safe, and now that I think about it, this is the first time I have slept without a nightmare since the war.
As we approach the Burrow, I abruptly realize we never came home last night, and Mrs. Weasley is going to freak out.
Good thing I'm sleeping.
The moment Fred steps through the door, yelling starts up.
"FREDRICK WEASLEY YOU HAD US WORRIED HALF TO DEATH!"
"Shhh!" Fred replies softly as he walks into the kitchen.
Ron is the first to comment, but I feel the sleep coming back anyway.
"What did you do to her," Ron says softly, my hearing starting to fade out a little as I attempt to stay awake.
Fred shakes his head slightly, and I feel his chest rumble a little, "She is asleep, Ron, Merlin, you'd think she was your fiance."
"When she wakes up, I want to talk to you both," Mrs. Weasley said before Ron could retaliate.
About half an hour later, I sleepily came down the stairs. Fred laid me on his bed to sleep, and it was terrific. His bed, unsurprisingly, smelled just like him.
Right that second, everyone was quite waiting to see how the Molly Weasley would react.
"Hermione, dear, when you finish eating, I would like to talk to you and Fred alone," said Mrs. Weasley.
"Yes," I hesitate for a second, "mum..." I spoke gently, not sure if this was the time. Last night Fred had mentioned that this is what his mother wants to hear, and Merlin he was right.
Mrs. Weasley gave me the biggest hug I think I have ever had, and I could feel myself smiling, even though I was struggling to breathe.
I needed a mom right now, this felt perfect.
I see Fred grinning widely. I wonder if he will ever actually love me as I love him. Although he doesn't know, I love him; it's probably best to tell him since we are getting married in 29 days.
After a while, I finished my breakfast and Molly kicked everyone, but Fred and I out.
'Mum' looked between us, and shook her head slightly, "I understand you are about to be married. But, what were you doing out all night last night?"
"Mum, we were just out getting to know each other before we get married. We did nothing. We fell asleep outside, and I woke up and brought us back." Fred said.
"Okay, Hermione, I was wondering how you felt about this? I know the marriage law worked out for most of my children, and I love you as one."
"I am fine, mum, it is just a little crazy, and I love you as if you were my mother too. Thank you for being there for us."
Mrs. Weasley smiled, "Good. So did last night help you guys at all?"
"Yes," we replied at the same time.
Fred smiled at me softly, "We will be going out for something every day until the wedding to make sure we are close before the wedding," and then looked like he had an epiphany, "as I said wedding I think I should ask you now or I will forget mum, would you cook our wedding meal if you want help I could always help-"
Fred did not get to finish as Mrs. Weasley wrapped him in a hug even more robust than the one this morning.
"Yeah, Fred and I talked last night about the wedding planning, and you make the best food, even Hogwarts is trying to beat you. It would be an honour if you would cook our wedding meal, mum." I said. Just to also got a huge hug.
