Chapter 4
"Alex sweetie you need to wake up." My mom told me. I groaned in response and rolled over. "Alex come on you and Nick are taking the kids into town today." My head shot up at the mention of Nick's name. I looked at his bed to see it made. "Ok mom let me take a shower and get changed." My mom nodded and smiled, "So how was your night?" she asked.
"Good." I told her wondering what she is hinting at. "Well by the way I found you in Nick's arms when I came home last night I would say that your night was better than just good." I blushed. "You saw that?" My mom laughed, "Of course I did. So what's up with you two? Did he ask you out yet?" I sighed, "Mom it is not like that. I don't like him."
She gave me a look, "Why don't you let him in? At least let him in so you can be friends. You cannot have Matt be the only guy in your life." "Ok I will give it a try," My mom's eyes light up."But, just to let you know he is the biggest player in school who brakes hearts daily." My mom shook her head, "I have a feeling he isn't going to be the one breaking the heart in this situation." And with that my mom left.
What was she talking about? Was she saying I was going to break Nick's heart? I threw off the covers and hopped out of bed. I was still in my swimsuit and my hair was a mess. I grabbed a pair of white jean shorts and a hot pink, plain, v neck t-shirt. The warm shower felt so good on my tired muscles. When I got out of the shower I put on my clothes and blow dried my hair.
I walked out into the living room when I was done. "Becca, Lizzie, please just sit and calm down!" I heard Nick say. I saw the girls giggled and stick their tongues out at him, but before they knew it he picked them up and threw them over his shoulder. Nick ran around the room with them laughing hysterically. He wasn't lying when he said he was a good brother. I smiled and sat in between my own brothers.
"Nick put them down. We need to take them into town."I told him while laughing. He set them down and came over smirking at me. "What are you-"I couldn't finish because Nick picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.
"Nick!! Put me down!!" I yelled while pounding on his back. It was no use he ran around the huge suite not even showing a tiny sign that it was difficult. I honestly enjoyed him carrying my around but I would never admit that to him. He finally set me down by the door.
"Let's go guys!" Nick told everyone. We ushered them down to the rental car that my parents had gotten for me to use this summer. It was a black cross over. Not anything like my mustang but it will work for now. After we got everyone in the car Nick fought me for the keys, I gave up and let him drive.
"So where are we going?"Chase asked. "Um how about we go to the big toy store in town, mom and dad gave me their platinum card. So you guys can buy whatever." I told them. The smiles on their faces were huge. "I can't let you pay for my sisters' stuff. I will pay for it." Nick told me not taking his eyes off the road. "It is fine. Really, my parents won't care. Giving me this card is their way of making up for taking me away from my friends this summer."
I started to turn up the radio when his hand covered mine. "Alex, I am not going to let you pay for them. I have a card I can pay." I turned to look at him, were at a red light, he was staring at me. I sighed, "Fine." he smirked in triumph. The rest of the ride was silent. It didn't take us long to get there.
As soon as the kids saw the store they freaked. I helped them out of the car just to have them run into the store without a glance to see if we were following. I grabbed the keys from Nick and put them in my purse. "So what are we going to do while they are in there looking?" Nick asked me. "We are going to go in there and watch them." I told him as I walked inside. He groaned in response. It took the kids an hour and a half to find what they wanted. The twins got twin dolls, Braden got two new games for the WII, and Chase got a new train set. While I wasn't looking Nick paid for all of the toys with his card.
