To know and still not do, is still not to know.

A Chinese Proverb

Invisible: Chapter One

~ A Chocolate and Cookie Collab~

~Innocence~

I stared at the drop-dead gorgeous, model-looking blonde (ish) girl staring back at me. She had the natural hair colour of a beauty queen, the skin of a model, the eyes of a cat (okay so the last one wasn't really a compliment) and the body hot enough to die for.

I'm sorry I'm so vain. And beautiful. But thats the truth.

I drinked in the girl's looks before heaving a sigh that would put a hobo to shame, and lifting the bottom of my drawer. Underneath, it held enough cosmetics to put a beautician out of her job and was probably more expensive than five ferraris.

But unfortunately, these cosmetics weren't there to make me look even better. (Well, I'm so sorry, I'm so amazing).

They were there to drastically alter my appearance to drool-worthy to nerd/dork/geek. Possibly all of them, put together. My hand made a beeline for the skin cream that was designed to make my skin look ten years older than it should.

After rubbing that on; I worked on my eyes. Carefully, toneing down the mascara and make my long lashes appear short. That way, my blue eyes (with green and gold specks thank you very much) didn't have that seductive look.

After that, I cranked up the blush factor here and there to make it seem like I was always blushing. Giving me the quiet girl who always blushes look.  Some say seductive. Some say hot. Some say cute. Some say pretty.

I say its that quiet girl look (well, duh).

Right, I'm supposed to introduce myself to you. Whoever 'you' is.

I'm Harper. Harper Rivenwood. I lead a considerably normal life filled with considerably uncrazy people in it. The exceptions are my best friend and cousin, Sia and my rather eccentric aunt. But other than that, I lead the typical teenage life.

I'm that quiet girl who sits at the back in class, the girl who sits by herself at lunch- and the girl that others pick on. But thats only if Sia isn't there, if Sia is around no-one is brave enough to try to call me names... because no-one wants to offend Sia.

No-one.

I'm not helpless. Heck no. But I need to stay invisible, I need to be quiet, I need to be the person everyone forgets about.

I have a secret to keep- and no-one, not even Sia, knows.

Okay, so a person knows. But he got a concussion, and lost all his memories so my secret is safe. Why I have to become invisible is beyond me, but I know it wouldn't be right if I lived the life I had before I half-died that night,

Sounds so freaking cliche doesn't it?

Enough of my monologue, I'm becoming Shakspeare.

"Harper, its brekkietime!" Sia yelled across the corridor. My room was opposite Sia's so I could hear her voice clearly. Very clearly. And Sia can be very loud when she wants to be.

I put down my cosmetics and replaced the hidden bottom of the drawer (paranoid much?) before giving myself a final lookover. I looked like someone's grandma gone wrong, which was exactly how I envisioned it to be.

"Coming," I murmured, as I slipped on my uniform. I attend a private academy thats so posh they have to call themselves an 'academy.' Our uniform's are one of a kind as well. For girls; we have a white blouse with an open collar and attached to it is a green and gold tie.
