"Look, I'm not even sick I just don't wanna go."

"See I knew you were lying to me! We both know you get that palish color when you're sick."

Toni raised an eyebrow at her roomate, Luna, at her comment. "Oh please, don't look at me like that," Luna rolled her eyes, "I'm not just sayin' that 'cause you're white. It's true!"

Toni's crazy friend Luna always had something to say about her color but swore she didn't mean to. Toni didn't care either, she knew her friend was joking and always took lightly to 'white girl' jokes.

"Whatever, I'm not going just because you said that," she teased.

"Oh hell no. You know I was joking. I'm already dressed and I'd be damned if I took off these tight jeans." Luna wasn't messing around. It took her a good ten minutes to squeeze her toned legs into her new skinnies.

"Why do you want me to go anyway!"

"Because Jeremy is gonna be there and he's bringing Darren. I don't want him to feel left out."

Luna's eyes twinkled and cheeks warmed at the sound of her boyfriends name leaving her lips. They had been together for four years--since sophmore year of highschool--and are still going strong.

"So what you're saying" Toni started, "is that you want me to keep this Darren guy company while you and Jeremy make out on the sideline?"

"Yes, now you're getting it! So is that a yes?"

Toni was exhausted after their two hour cheer practice and had to study for a test in European history but nonetheless she said "Yeah whatever."

"Thanks girl. You know you're my mejor amiga, right?"

"Stop trynna butter me up and get out of my room so I can get ready," Toni laughed. Luna winked at her and skipped out of the room.

With a sigh Toni went to their bathroom and stripped out of her clothes to take a shower. After washing her hair and shaving tiredly for the fourth time this week she got out the shower and wrapped a towel around herself. She leaned over the counter and wiped the steam off the mirror to see herself better.

She took a thorough examination of her face. The only thing she liked about herself were her eyes and everyone else thought the same too. They were big and gray and somehow made her look innocent. Sadly her big glasses obscured them and made her look like more of a child than she already did.

After blowdrying and curling her brown hair and applying some lotion she went back to her room to get dressed. She slipped on a simple black shirt and light jeans along with her white converse. They were only going to a coffee shop so it didn't matter. She slipped on her glasses and grabbed her phone before meeting Luna by the door.

Toni always thought Luna was pretty, ever since they met the day they got their dorm room assignments. She had warm brown eyes, tanned skin and wavy thick black hair. Luna always bragged that her Latin genes were the cause of her beauty. Toni didn't disagree.

"Ready?" Luna asked, car keys in hand. "Yeah."

Luna got into the drivers seat of her car while Toni buckled into the passenger seat. "Girl, when are you gonna get a car?" Luna asked. "As soon as I get a drivers license." "You don't have a license?! What have you been doing all these years?"

Toni didn't want to tell Luna the truth about how her parents practically sheltered her all her life. Little did they know their perfect little girl snuck out and had to experience the world on her own. Which meant parties and boys. Her parents never gave her the talk because they thought it was unecessary with their 'innocent little angel' and Toni didn't need it. She knew how to be safe when it came down to that.
