Matt Brown: A Year of Short Stories

Nine: Matchmaker

You live in Alabama, and you want a change in scenery. You are getting tired of the same thing everyday. You want to be free and find someone to love you for who you are. So your friend tells you about a matchmaker, and she tells you to get in contact with this matchmaker. It takes you about three weeks to get up the courage to contact this matchmaker. Once you send the matchmaker your information. You breath a sigh of relief, because you were kind of worried about it. You have all sorts of thoughts, for example what if the matchmaker doesn't find anyone for you. You worry about this for three days. On the third day you check your email and find a reply from the matchmaker. The matchmaker has sent you some information on two men. One is local which you do know and he is just not your type, and you know he won't ever leave the small town that you live in.The other guy lives in Alaska. You find him very attractive. So you sent the matchmaker a message asking for more info on the man from Alaska. So two days later, the matchmaker sends you the information that you want. You find out that the man from Alaska name is Matthew Brown, he is 34 years old, he has blue eyes, he has brown hair with salt and pepper streaks in it. You look to see if there are any way to contact him. You don't see any phone numbers. You feel sad about that. All the sudden you look at the email to find that the matchmaker has provided him with you phone number, and that he will be calling you on Friday. You can't wait till Friday. You wait two days for the phone call. It is Friday, you just got off of work at the hospital, you pulled a double shift. You are tired, so you go to take a shower before Matt calls. Once you are done with your shower, you get dressed and walk into the kitchen to fix you something to eat. You fix some eggs, bacon, and toast. Once you are done cooking, you sit down at the table to eat your breakfast. When you are done eating, you put your dishes into the dishwasher. You grab your phone and walk into your room and lay down on your bed. You also put your phone on charge and turn on the sound so you can hear it ring. You fall asleep for a couple of hours, when you hear your phone ringing. You pick up your phone and look at the number, it is a number you don't recognize, but you answer it because it could be the man that is suppose to call you. When you answer your phone, you hear a man's voice. He tells you that he is Matt Brown and tells you that the matchmaker gave him your number. You tell him that you know about it. You both talk awhile about all type of things. He promises to call you again soon.
