Safe and Sound

For stellar cycles, he has been the boy's guardian... The brunette boy with the nut-brown eyes was the first human he had come into contact with when he had first arrived on Earth, and having the mutual feeling of having nowhere else to go and no one else to be with... They somehow ended up stuck together...

"So...What should I call you? I'm Will by the way. Will Lennox." The 15-year-old boy, known as 'Will'; says with hands behind his back and head tilted up. The red mech before the adolescent pondered as to whether or not to reveal his designation to what he thought to be his 'temporary traveling companion' before coming to a decision.

"Will, huh? My designation is Ironhide. Cause me problems kid and I won't hesitate to leave you behind." Ironhide says with a low chuckle.

Through thick and thin the two were inseparable and much to Ironhide's surprise, he had found himself fond of the human he has come to know as a friend... A brother even... Together they faced many adversities, from trying to keep Ironhide from being discovered to the typical 'problems' of a teenager. These adversities were tough, especially when Ironhide found himself beginning to rust. During Ironhides' time of Earth, his entertainment consisted of helping his partner pull parks on school bullies, joyrides and playing 'wingman' once his charge began to enter the dating scene. The times he spent with Will was fun but, nothing could beat a good ol' brawl with a 'con. Now those were the days! But... He would never give up the life of Will to return to those days... So, he settled on the easy, boring life of being just an ordinary pick-up truck to keep his charge safe.

"Hey! Ironhide! I want to officially introduce you to someone!" Will, now a grown man exclaimed as he ran into their garage or otherwise known as 'Ironhide's berthroom' with a young woman, otherwise known as Will's girlfriend of 2 years; in tow.

".........." Utter silence came from the red pick-up stationed in the center of the garage.

"Come on Hide! I can't exactly introduce the two of you if you don't transform. Plus I already told her about you being a 'giant alien robot', just to keep it simple and from the fact that she is still here with me, instead of trying to send me to the psychiatric ward; gives me the feeling that she is fine with the idea that my truck is a 'giant alien robot'." Will explained, or more like rambled with a slight whine in his voice as he put air quotation marks around the phrase 'giant alien robot'. With some reluctance, the red mech transformed and held out a digit to Will's girlfriend who surprisingly took it without any sign of hesitation or fear.

"So now that you guys are both properly introduced! Hide... I finally built up the courage to ask and..." 

Oh no... 

"guess what, she said yes! We're getting married!" Will said excitedly as Ironhide almost glitched from the news. This is it! He knew how this would end! He has read many articles on the world wide web about how marriage destroys and cages a man's relationship with his friends. Is this it? Is this where their friendship ends?

It has been a few stellar cycles since then, 4 to be exact and their friendship is still as strong as ever. 4 stellar cycles, 2 charges, no incidents and now... He is about to get a 3rd charge with Will and his wife expecting their first child. With Ironhide's help, of course, the expecting couple was able to find a secluded house on the outskirts of a small town known as, Jackson Wood, Wyoming. All seemed perfect, a small town, no signs of 'cons, his charges safe and sound, the perfect house located in a secluded area where he can transform without the humans inhabiting the town being able to see him, he was content with his life. At that moment Ironhide began to believe in what humans called a 'happily ever after' ... But, all happy endings must eventually come to an end...
