“It wasn’t suppose to be like this. This wasn’t supposed to happen.” He murmured. He sighed in disappointment, as if being with me was like thorns pricking him every second.
My heart sank; I didn’t know why I expected so much. Maybe it was because I had always wished my life would be like a fairytale. Maybe he would be my prince charming and sweep me away.
I had gotten someone who wished that he was not in love with me. Someone who confused me, who infuriated me, who treated me with no respect, someone who would change moods like the flip of a switch. I did not regret anything, not one moment. I did not regret any moment with him. He made me feel safe, like he was a shield protecting me from the arrows the world aimed at me.
I did not regret being in love with him. I slowly brought up my hand to caress his cheek. My hand slightly shook yet he leaned to the touch. “I am sorry. But I don’t regret anything, not one bit.” I spoke the truth in a quiet whisper only for him to hear.
