Hero with a frozen heartbeat

It may be Saturday, but I am up early. I am heading to the library at the moment, I need answers to my silent questions.

I walk into the local library and I have the librarian set the timer for the computer. I have thirty minutes to pull up and print out what I need to study. I pull up Google search and I type in, Vampires.... I scroll through each link and I print some things that resemble the Cullen's and I leave the library.

I stop by the city park and I sit on a bench. I read then papers on vampires while other girls my age are making out their boyfriends on the ground or having rebellious, no good sex. I see cold skin, no heartbeat. Vegetarians, vampires who feed off animals, have golden-topaz eyes while the human feeders - killers have blood red eyes.

I shove them in a black folder and put it in my inner jacket pocket. That won't be all I need. I need to watch the family to see their actions, their speed, their perfection. I need to watch their human eating style, if hey eat regular food at all. Watch their night routine. Do they sleep?

I walk into the house and I see Esme sitting next to the fireplace. I huff and I walk up the stairs. Bella is eating food while Edward watches her.

"I'm hungry." I say, gaining Edward's attention. "Mind making me something?"

Edward nods and he gets some stuff for spaghetti ready. Bella smirks at me, she knows what I am up to. Edward sets a plate in front of me.

"Have a bite." I offer.

"I'm not.... Hungry." Edward eyes me warily. "I've already ate."

"Have you now?" I raise an eyebrow.

"What are you up to, Valeria?" Edward asks.

"You'd like to know, wouldn't ya?" I smirk.

I finish eating and I step into the balcony. Emmett and Rosalie emerge from the woods. I tilt my head and Emmett looks up at me. I cross my arms as his eyes widen. Rosalie bites her lip to keep from laughing when I sling on the ledge. She knows my plans and what I'm up to.

Emmett jumps up and pulls me onto the balcony.

"That's all the proof I needed." I whisper and I go inside.

I climb the stairs and I go to my room. I live with vampires. The saved me from the base I was receiving from home. This doesn't explain Emmett's reaction towards me when I scraped my knee. He reacted worse that Alice, and she is a vampire too with the urges.

I eye my new room that the vampire mom, Esme, decorated for me. I love it here. My color theme is black and purple,  my two favorite colors of all time.

Emmett walks in my room after knocking lightly. He explains it all to me. Me being his blood singer explains his reaction in gym when I scraped my knee. Me being his mate explains his exposing him and his family to save me from jumping of the balcony.

"So, does that answer any questions you have?" Emmett asks.

"Yeah, it actually does." I reply honestly.

"I wanna try something." Emmett says softly.

I nod. He moves towards my bed and takes a seat beside me.

"Don't move." Emmett demands.

I nod again. He grabs my face and he leans in slowly. My breath stops suddenly when his lips touch mine, my heart skips a beat and my breathing stops. Emmett growls and throws himself against the wall.

"I thought I was strong enough." Emmett mumbles.

"You did great, Emmett." I reassure him. "You're not used to it, it's okay."

"You're not scared?" He asks, obviously shocked.

"Nope, why would I be?" I ask.

He smirks. "You shouldn't have asked."

Out of nowhere, Emmett throws me on his back and he flies out the window. I let it a scream and I tighten my grip around his neck. He climbs a few trees and he stops at the tallest one in the forest. I stand on a tree limb and Emmett walks closer to me and he encloses me against the trunk.

"It's beautiful up here." I whisper.

Emmett smirks and he grabs me before jumping. He lands in a clearing and he sets me on the damp forest ground.

"You think you can out lift me?" He asks angrily.

Emmett yanks up a tree trunk and throws it, it lands right beside me. I jump up and I begin to run. Emmett groans loudly and he zooms in front of me. I jump so bad I fall backwards. Emmett eyes me warily. A tear of fear escapes my eyes.

Emmett's hand raises and I lose it. I scream and I throw myself to the ground.

"I'm my going to hurt you, Valeria." Emmett whispers. "I would never."

I stare up at him with fear in my eyes. He looks guilty for scaring me; I see his hands in his hair. He wasn't going to hit me. Emmett leans down and picks me up he flashes to the house and he carries me inside in human speed.

Edward smiles at us and he pats Emmett's shoulders. Jasper is watching me from across the room, he is standing beside Alice. Alice is smiling wide and is snuggling against Jasper's chest.

Emmett lays me on my bed and he steps back and stands across the room.

"Will you change my clothes for me?" I ask Emmett.

He nods and he opens up my closet to find me some pajamas. He strips my clothes off me with dark eyes and he covers me up.

"I'm gonna go hunt. Get some sleep." Emmett whispers before he flashes out.

I roll over and I face the wall. I wrap myself in the blankets and I soon allow sleep to take over.
