Chapter 5
Ryder
I was being questioned about Mag’s death by Rook in the interrogation room back at the station. Sorry, let me rephrase that. I was being questioned about the death of my partner by my best friend in what I had come to think of as my second home.
I never thought I would ever be on the other side of this table, never thought I’d have questions thrown at me from the cop across from me. I wasn’t a killer (well I was but I had my reasons), I was a cop. I had to get out of there. I couldn’t stay here. I had to prove myself innocent. Well, as innocent as you can get after you’ve shot someone.
“Can you say, honestly, that you shot Detective Margaret Lewis earlier this evening?” Rook asked.
“Yes,” I responded.
“Why?” There was a hint of true sadness in his voice. Mag had been a good cop. We would all miss her.
“Turn off the mic.” I said. “Turn off the mic and I’ll tell you why.”
He did. I watched him unplug it. “I want you to understand,” he said, “that I’m only doing this because you’re a friend.”
I nodded. “We’re friends, right, Rook?”
“Yeah,” he said, “I kinda hate you right now though.” He gave me a little half-smile. “You know, for shooting her.”
I don’t return the smile. “I had a reason. But as my friend I’m gonna need you to trust me.”
“I trust you.”
“Okay, I can’t tell you why now,” I said. “I can only tell you that I can get proof that I didn’t kill Mag in cold blood, but I need your help.”
“What do you need?”
“I need you to break me out. Tonight.”

Ok I'm really sorryy about all the short chapters I have like thirteen or so chapters prewritten but they're all really short. So until I run out of prewritten chapters I'm gonna do double uploads. I swear after I'm done with the prewritten stuff the chapters will get longer. So yeah.
Vote, comment, whatever.
