Act 2 Chapter 3 The Awakening

Daniel’s bloody body was pulled from the Lake by a few of the natives that lived on the lakes edge. He was alive, but barely breathing, and the blood could be seen pouring from all over his body. The natives quickly and carefully wrapped his body in bandages to slow the bleeding. Then very carefully picked him up, and carried him to what looked like hut of some kind.

The inside of it was dimly lit with a blue glow that was radiating from lines running up the sides of the walls. The light was then reflected down and outward off what looked like a mirror in the ceiling, which was also splitting the light into soft rays of green and purple.

The natives surrounded him on all sides, they were very short people just about 4 feet tall, but this wasn’t what stood out most about them. What stood out most were their eyes. There was a subtle but bright glow in their eyes. Looking at them at first you wouldn’t be able to tell, but it was there, bright green glow yet it was so subtle it was almost unseen. The glow came from the white in their eyes, making it seem as though Daniel’s body was surrounded by glowing green rings floated in midair.

They sat around Daniel in a circle; then they started placing medicines of all kinds on his body as they slowly places his bones back in place. Once they finish placing his bones in place and putting Splints on them, they began to rub his body with a herb of some kind. Moments after the wounds on his body began to smoke, and then they slowly pulled themselves back together and started to close.

The properties of the strange medicine they were using were simply amazing, not only did it speed his healing rate up by almost 100 times, it also made his body heal as though it had never been hurt in the first place. Then suddenly his body began to tense up, his eyes opened, and he slowly began to regain consciousness. The medicine was burning his body making him feel as though he was on fire, forcing him to awaken as his wounds finish closing.

Daniel began to scream out in pain, even though he was no longer bleeding his body felt as though it was been burnt from the inside. He continued to scream for a few minutes. As the smoke coming from the medicine slowly began to dissipate, his screams lessened. The scars that had formed a few minutes earlier soon disappeared. The smoke stopped completely and with it so did the pain, soon Daniel screams stopped to as he lost consciousness once again.

Daniel remained unconscious at this point, and more than two weeks past as he slept. Constantly being watched over by one of the villages, who were taking turns making sure his bandages were changed and new medicine was placed on his body. After the first week of him sleeping, the villages began to move him every morning; they took him to the edge of the village where the bank of the lake was.

Where the plants they used to make the medicine placed on his body was grown. They placed his body in the water on the very edge of the shore, and then pulled the plants all over his body then wrapping his body tightly with them. They left him wrapped up like this for an hour every morning. This not only clean his body of the medicine that was placed on it the day before, but it also covered his body in an oil that the plants only secreted while there were still growing. The oil would help him heal even faster and prevent his body from weaken while he was sleeping, and increase blood flow threw out his body preventing any side effects that go along with laying without moving for weeks.

After that, they would return his body to the hut in which he was staying, then changing his bandages and reapplied the medicine and herbs across his body. After that, they would leave him to continue to heal without moving him until the next morning; at that point, they would just do the same thing over again.

Daniel awoke a couple weeks late. Before his eyes could even open he was already confused. His body was wrapped tightly in vines and almost completely submerged in water. As you might assume this is not the best way to wake up. He felt angry and scared at the same time wondering what had happened to him, and wondering how he ended up in this position. His eyes opened slowly, the place he was laying was dimly lit, with just enough light for everything to be seen semi clearly.

As his eyes adjusted and the environment became clear he could tell that he wasn’t outside or at least not outside as he was used to. There was no sky, all he could see was a rocky surface above his head. It took a little while for him to completely wake up and for his mind to clear enough for him to realize where he was. He was in a cave.

But it was very odd he thought, if he was in a cave it should be dark but he could see clearly though it wasn’t as bright as being outside. He looked around thinking that he was close to the entrance of the cave; after all, it was too bright for him to be very far inside of the cave. However, as far as his eyes could see there were no entrances, and no light coming in from anywhere. Then again, he could only see what was above him seeing that he couldn’t move his head, or the rest of his body.

The villager that was supposed to be in charge of looking over him at the moment, didn’t even notice he had regain consciousness because of how little he could move. The villager was expecting him to start panicking immediately if he was to gain consciousness. However, Daniel was laying perfectly still and perfectly calm.

However, it wasn’t that he didn’t panic but it was more of the fact that he didn’t move while panicking. After coming to his senses Daniel actually started to panic, he immediately tried to jump up and ripped the vines of his body. However, this was to no avail his body just laid there not responding to his commands all except for the pinky on his right hand. Which is very odd seeing that he was left-handed. It took almost 10 minutes of him trying to scream and completely failing at making even one sound, before the villager noticed that he was awake, because he saw his eyes blinking.

The villager quickly yet very carefully removed the vines from across Daniel’s body. Then slowly pulled him out of the water onto the shore next to the bed they used to carry him back and forth. Then he quickly ran off to go find the other villages. He returned about three minutes later with two more villages to help them carry Daniel back to the hut.

Daniel laid in the hut wondering where he was, who these people were, and what had actually happened to him. Oddly enough, it didn’t occur to him to think about how much time had actually passed since he was last awake. His mind had already adapted to the fact that he was an immortal, though it was a short amount of time since he had found out that he was. He had adapted so much that the passage of time no longer occur to him. However, this was just because he was out for so long and his mind had the time to absorb what his father had said as he slept.

Nevertheless, like any normal person who had been asleep for a very long time and waking up in a strange place surrounded by very strange people he was scared and confused. But he figured there wasn’t very much for him to be worrying about, after all they dressed his wounds and were taking very good care of him. He just hoped that they actually spoke a language he could understand, that way he would be able to thank them for their help. Also, hopefully keep any misunderstandings from happening, or well keeping them to small ones anyway. Seeing that he wasn’t all that great with getting along with people.
