Chapter 1: Burnt

On a rainy day, a mixed human would have her life changed forever.

The house burst up into flames right after a kid and an elder were able to make it out of the house alive. However, there were still two people left in the house, roasting in the heat of death.

“Grandpa, where are mommy and daddy!?” asked a little kid as she cried. Tears streamed down her eyes as she picked up the remnants of what was left of the house.

“They're alive,” her grandfather answered as he looked at the burning house with concern.

“No...mommy and daddy can't die! They can't die! They said they will take me to the park after school today!” she exclaimed as she hit her grandfather's chest in frustration.

“They are alive, Yukino,” her grandfather said.

Yukino looked up and saw her grandfather look at her in the eyes. She never saw her grandfather look so serious in her life. Her grandfather would usually call her Yuki but when things got very serious he would call her by the full name.

Suddenly, her grandfather started pushing Yukino away from the house. Yukino looked towards the direction she was being pushed to and saw a black limousine.

“NOOO!! MOMMY AND DADDY ARE STILL INSIDE!!” Yukino screamed as she desperately fought her way out of her grandfather's grip.

“Yukino! Listen to me!” her grandfather exclaimed and ushered her to look at him. “We have to get out of here!”

“I won't leave! I won't leave!” Yukino shouted as she started punching her grandfather in the chest.

She could hear the sirens of fire trucks and police cars.

“YUKINO! WE HAVE TO GO! NOW!” her grandfather shouted as he hauled her up over his shoulders.

“The police won't be able to help us! We have to take care of ourselves!” her grandfather exclaimed. “We can't let them attack us!”

“I don't know what you're talking about!” Yukino exclaimed.

“You don't have to know now!” her grandfather exclaimed as he finally pushed her into the limousine. He closed the door and locked it shut immediately.

Yukino pounded on the windows and tried to unlock the door but the guards inside the car stopped her.

“Don't stop me! I'm going to get out of here!” Yukino exclaimed but the guards kept their hold on her wrist.

“We are sorry but we cannot let you go out,” one of the guards said calmly.

“Put her in the middle seat, Shion,” suggested the other guard.

“Yeah,” answered Shion as he picked her up and putted her down between them.

From outside the window, Yukino was able to see her grandfather talking to a police and panicky telling a firefighter that there were still two people left inside the house.

Suddenly, her grandfather turned his head towards the opposite direction and his eyes widened. He jumped into the front seat and the driver immediately drove away, leaving the police and firefighters to deal with the house.

“NOOOOOO!! MOM AND DAD!” screamed Yukino as she fought the two guards holding her down.

“Damn it! She's a hard one to tame!” exclaimed a guard. “Shion! Hold her down!”
