Not Another Jealousy Complex

{In Character - Lab Rats - High School}

Bree's POV

━━━━━━━━━

I rolled my eyes for the twelfth time in the past two minutes as I watched the two fawn over each other at his locker. The sick process seemed to replay over and over again. She would laugh, throw her head back, only then to lock eyes with him, the interest showing as she allowed him to go on and on about something I knew deep down she didn't care about. It was enough to make me sick to my stomach. I hated her.

Adam. The name rang through my head like the beginning of the day school bell. He simply had to make things right with Chase. He just had to feel bad for what he had done to destroy Chase's and that girls' relationship. He had to be the one to walk over to Sabrina and explain everything. Explain what he did that day. Relay how he messed up their study date and that she should give Chase a second chance. He had to be a good big brother. Why, one may ask? He's never come through before. And now, he was over there with her as her laughter floated through the hallways, causing me to choke slightly.

I pressed my eyes shut as I popped open my locker, playing on autopilot as I shoved the textbook previously in my hands into my locker. I couldn't stand to look at them any longer. Just the sound of their conversation was enough to make me cause a scene. A scene people truly didn't need, or want, to see. A light tap on my shoulder brought me back. I sighed softly and allowed my eyes to open once more, turning to see the devil himself standing behind me. I plastered on an all too fake smile as he stood with each of his hands wrapped around the strap of his backpack.

"What do you want?" I snipped as I crossed my arms over my chest. He shrugged, the sentence not phasing him.

"Well hello to you, too." He said as he dumbly glanced from side to side of the school, his eyes landing expertly on the two I had been forcing myself not to look at. "How long have they been talking?" He asked, the sincerity in his voice enough to calm me a bit.

"Too long." I whispered just loud enough for him to hear. A small smile pushed onto his face as he watched me.

"You're upset." He pointed out before he reached out and poked my right cheek. I shook my head and quickly swatted his hand away.

"No, I'm not. If anything I'm upset with you for-"

"For setting them back up?" Adam asked teasingly as I glanced over my shoulder to see the two leaning against the lockers and laughing at some joke one of them had to have told. "You know they've only been together for like... A day, Bree. There's nothing to be upset about." I rolled my eyes and reached back, ripping my bag off the hook on my locker and slamming the door quickly afterwards.

"I am not upset!" I hissed, the hurt sadly showing through my voice. He nodded, his face falling flat as he rested his hand on my shoulder.

"You're right. You're more jealous than upset." Adam caught me simply. "Are you mad that he actually has a girlfriend and you don't have a boyfriend or-"

"Or nothing." I cut off defensively as I saw Caitlyn coming towards us from the very end of the hall. She would be here in a minute. "Just because we aren't related doesn't immediately mean I love Chase." I spit out all too quickly for my own liking. Adam smiled slyly, turning and seeing Caitlyn quickly approaching us.
