i met this guy
around town,
handsome and kind
to many people around

i met this girl
in my neighborhood
that was sweet yet blind
she gives a lovely smile

one day i left town
and got no news since
the guy was still kind
the girl was still blind

i came back to see no town
but a man that welcomed me around
it was barren and deserted
but i couldn't turn his offer down

he was handsome and kind
he likes apple pies and has a pet dove
he told me a story about his dad
he said, "he was young when he fell in love"

i asked, "to whom?"
he shrugged, "i was still in her womb"
and i nodded as his words were like melodies,
stories of the town's humor and tragedies

and as i waved goodbye,
he reminded me of someone
he gave the sweetest smile,
turned his heel and returned to town
